Sorry you have to deal with this.

It is hard to find contractors anywhere who are willing to take on another contractor's clean up work. Often, you are best off having a new contractor gut the shower and start over.

Whomever you go with, be sure to have a written contract that specifically states all materials and processes that will be used in constructing the shower and that they take photos and email them to you at each step.
