shaker island moulding decision

We're currently in the process of building a shaker style island. We need to decide what type of moulding to use- traditional or minimalist look with straight lines.
. Which do you think looks best. I lean traditional, but need recommendations.

not poll choice just sample of what our island will look like.
traditional
minimalist

What moulding are you speaking of? If it is the base that style would depend on teh balance of the hime in my opinion. In fact that base is not really base but part of the island cabinets.

Yes, base moulding of kitchen island.

Why the new thread? Isn't it the same island.same kitchen/same home?

    https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6515443/replacing-island

The ENDS will be most visible. Simple and as existing cabinetry, wider.. Same that will be hidden by stools, and proportioned to suit island length.

skip the middle divide in pic below, done, below. Divide the long side, similarly....no more than three.

You want the proportions to be sympathetic to you cabinet shaker details. Most people over do it here and then you have an odd end that looks like your cabinet on steroids. I treat the island like a piece of furniture , not a piece of wall with baseboad trim. Show us a pic of your actual doors.

NO. to the base on the second pic.

Jan, the moulding in the second pic matches the moulding in the rest of the house

I wouldn't use baseboard molding on a Shaker-style island. If you want Shaker, then by definition you don't want decorative molding. A toe-kick might be a practical choice for your island, but perhaps it's too late for that.

Are there these the cabinets and fridge panels in this kitchen? Context is everything and I hadn't realized that this is the same thread where are making a new island for an already built kitchen.

Please post pics of the baseboard in this room and base cabinets in this room. It all needs to look right together.

    Going to disagree with above.

The cabinetry is partial overlay, with a shaker trim. NO bead. You are never going to match everything in this house, Make the island look good and move on.

To make the other molding make sense? The shaker would need a bead of trim inside that plain shaker. Your cabinetry face detail? Is probably an APPLIED trim to what was a "slab" face.

Do the first pic, and move on.........

Save money for a perimeter counter rip out up the road.

I came home from work to find my husband taking apart our kitchen island. After nearly 11 years of living with it, I can’t help but feel a little sad. I’m not sure where the time has gone. At the same time, I’m really excited for our new island—I truly feel it will better match our style and elevate the look of our kitchen.

Kudos to whoever does the dusting you your house. That is a lot of nooks and crannies for dust to live in.

Make your island as simple as possible. There are already too many different trims and moldings in this kitchen.

Agree with Kendrah. You already have alot of trim/molding styles. Minimalist for the island.
