We're on the coast in Massachusetts, so I'm afraid I can't answer that one. You might ask a local architect or builder.

How long have the shingles been installed? We are considering this for a complete remodel in New England ( by the water) too and don't want them turning black but silvery.

The house was less than a year old when the photo was taken. White cedar shingles will turn silver near salt water. Red cedar will turn dark grey to black.

What color will the white cedar weather to if not by the salt water, say in the Midwest?

Without the salt air, i'm afraid they turn black.

Love cedar shake and was planning to side a cape cod style house with it. Scared that it turns black in Midwest. What happens to it in Atlanta?

I assume it would turn black, if not treated. You could probably use a pre-stained shingle though.

In the South the worry is termites and bugs .Attack real wood shingles. That’s why Faux are used.
