Vinyl steps and bullnose

last month

Our church was flooded by hurricane Helene storms. We are replacing the carpet/wood floor in the sanctuary with vinyl to enable a HOH hearing assistance coil under the floor.

The new steps to the chancel are curved. The flooring company did not think they could install a flush bullnose (https://flexitions.com/products/flush-mount-103) so we chose an overlap (https://flexitions.com/products/overlap-stair-nose-111).

But, now old folks like myself are seeing the danger of tripping on the 1/8 inch lip.

Is there some reason why luxery vinly cannot be installed flush to the first bull nose with a straight edge? Is some special tool needed to make a close cut? is there some spacing required between the two vinyl products?

Thank in advance for your input.
