Starting Daylily Seeds

Would like to try starting daylily seeds outdoors rather than in my greenhouse where seedlings seem to get tall, are skinny and fall over. I am in east Texas, 2 hours NE of Houston. We are having unseasonably warm weather, and it looks to stay this way with no hard freezes for January and February. I have had good luck with other seeds under a roof eve that is protected from pouring rain and gets the east sun for most of the morning. I had thought to soak the seeds til I see some tips showing then pot in seed starting mix in potting trays with a larger container underneath to soak up bottom watering. I have never started daylily seeds outdoors before - would appreciate any ideas, tips, suggestions. Thanks!

Judith
