The black sink and back splash with the black knobs, would be sharp!

A black sink wouldn't look bad, but personally, I have one and it never looks clean. Also, your appliances are white, so that's what I'd suggest. Then have fun with the hardware -- there are some here that would look great in your space:

I like counter tops. Good choice, take granite up all the way. I would get new appl. Not that expensive they last forever. It's a shame to,redo kitchen and not appl. Usually when doing granite they throw in a stainless sink. Take it plus use brush nickel pulls. Is the green walls going away.? I would go a dove gray, Would really make granite pop.

Also get a stainless over the range micro wave. To save counter space.

The old appl is making your cabinets look dirty.

Is it too late to do an under-mount sink? Then, the color wouldn't matter so much. Just had to put in my two cents – I have a black stove, and it's also very hard to keep clean looking. (Or course, it would help if I cleaned it more often.)

Thank you for the comments...Travisinteriors what are your thought's on black appliances... cabinets came in wrong ..were suppose to be mocha..so the green was for the mocha will have to change...because of cabinet error .... I could buy appliances with the money credit they gave...thanks again

Stainless steel is the cheapest, and easiest kind of sink to buy and maintain. Even if you are going with a Formica top... then choose a stainless top mount. Especially if you think in the future that you may change your appliances to stainless. All the different shades of white and creams are going to make it look "blah". I'd like to see some contrast in there to break it up... but that is just my style.

What? A formica top? I thought you were getting the granite that is pictured--which I love! I also think the appliances need the update. You can have them painted if you can't afford new. If you get black appliances, the black sink will work. Otherwise, I vote for the cream sink first, then the stainless. I think a black sink in a creamy kitchen will make the sink the focal point, which doesn't work for this kitchen. ... Mocha as in dark brown, like is pictured with the granite? or Mocha as in almost black? Would've been beautiful, but the cream works too. I agree that the green MUST go, and to avoid the "blah" look mentioned above, you could do a dramatic wall, just don't go too dark or it will make the kitchen feel smaller. Good luck! Cream to match, or SS is always clean and modern and inexpensive.

Just a suggestion, go to a granite distributor & ask what they have on clearance. You do not have a lot of countertop space so it should not be too expensive to put granite, maybe less than $1,000. A friend of mine got granite for $1.20 a sq ft from a distributor that was left over from another project. She was lucky, you could be too!!!

A kitchen is an important part of the house and one of the house's best features. Make this count, go with granite. It is well worth it and you will be glad you did.

I would go with a black granite sink .. I have one and love it! Would look awesome with the dark knobs and backsplash.

Isn't it amazing how may opinions we throw out ? Each comment has it's merit. The granite you chose under the time cruch will look great. Since you don't have one of those mega kitchens, keep it simple with just a few colors to look at . In a perfect world it would be great for all of us to spend freely but is most of us have budget limitations . With a look to the future you can plan and budget for new appliances. Stainless is probably the best choice as far as neutrality and giving a finished look. White will just make your cabinets look dirty unless you have other elements ( like molding or a litter more white/cream tile.it will also make the appliances stick out more, as dated . But don't fret. All though it's hard to wait . No kitchen is built in a day, even on TV. ( although they make it look that way ) Depending on whether you have a window or some other light coming into the room your wall /s and ceiling can be painted a fun accent color that will brighten and warm the space. You can always stay on the safer side and then bring in a fun rug and pictures on the wall. Living with a room is sometimes the best thing. Then one day you have an aha moment and it all comes together. Since no one mentioned the sweet cat ,I feel compelled to do so. Kitty must stay!! Enjoy and don't let yourself get down about it. The kitchen is going to be lovely. Bless your endeavors.

Dang, the simple addition of a rug and pictures works too! Duh. Living with the room for a bit is a great idea too! Didn't you mention that new appliances might be a possibility with the credit for receiving the wrong stuff? And btw, I also have a black granite sink and also love it, but it can chip (despite what they claim) so just don't be dumb like me and whack the middle of it while getting the rotten parts of the avocado off the metal spoon!

I'm in with the stainless crowd. It has a nice clean look and is not expensive. I just moved into a house with black refrigerator - it just seems to dominate the kitchen and I am hoping to switch it out to SS. White is my least favorite as it feels dated. Good luck - overall you have a very nice kitchen that needs a few more touches to make it pop.

have you considered a stainless sink? if you get stainless appliances or keep the ones you have it would blend it very well.

while gray is a more current paint choice and would look beautiful, especially with stainless, the coffeandcream colour in your counter would really warm your kitchen. with gray, the caramel colour will pop, with caramel, the gray will pop and blend with the stainless. long, brushed nickel/stainless handles would look great on your new cabinets and complement the other stainless in the room. too much colour contrast [like black] would 'busy up' an already small space. when you come to choose appliances consider a counter depth fridge--it appears you have some extra room width-wise as well? if you went with wider fridge would the cabinet company that made the mistake exchange the over fridge cabinet for a different size?

The black sink would be gorgeous with the way you've described it. I can't imagine that it would be that difficult to keep clean, especially if after using it, you gave it a quick wipe with a dry paper-towel or microfiber towel. Special hug for the kitty as s/he makes a very nice accessory, too :)

OH, but whichever sink you get make sure it's super deep--really not that much more.

Nice rushed choice for the counter and backsplash. When you do change appliances it is likely you will choose stainless, therefore, I would go with a stainless sink and do brushed stainless/nickel hardware. It's looking very good for a mistake.

I am an appliance guy, but the lighting needs to addressed...Recessed, monopoint track, etc. For appliances, stainless would be great. Counter depth is good, but the options are limited in a 30 inch cabinet. Black sink? Only if you have a full time maid cleaning it...30 inch counter depth options

Laura....yes dark colored sinks are terrible to take care of...as a mom I take the time to wipe--everyone else in the fam, not so much :) Although I will say it also has much to do with each person's water coming into their home & what type of colored sink. Seems we always live where the water has some type of issue of lime, being to hard or even now with a softener salt deposits :/

I hope you'll share pics of the finished kitchen. I'd love to see how things turn out.

I had a SS stove with a black top once and it was terrible! Even when clean, it showed dust. I would not do a black sink. Would like to see finished photos too - good luck!

Thank you everyone ....especially about my cat (Giovanni) in the picture....one thing I forgot to mention ...all this is being done while I am in another state caring for my Mom... so I appreciate all your input and post pic when complete in 2 more weeks............

A few of these posts are reminding me of some old issues I had with dark things in especially my Old ( vintage ) house. Dark does show more dust, water spots, soap crumbs etc. Even in my stainless sink now, I am constanly wiping away something to make it look clean. Hang in there ! House renovations are not for the weak. Add to that caregiving and you're bordering on sainthood. Prayer helps!
