IMO it does not look good and you got lots of ideas back in Novemeber. Waht you show is IMO too low and those dark posts of the staircase IMO are just not good paint those like the spindles . Leave the handrail dark Do you have wainscoting anywhere else in the house ? If so let us see that .

I don't think the top of the wainscot should angle down. Keep the top straight like you see in the photos below.

Thank you for the drawing. I see what you are saying about keeping it high, but won't that be too high given the rest of the dining room? I'm going to do wainscoting around the whole house about 45 inches high but the dining room ceiling are extremely high like 20 feet. So if I do the staircase as high as the drawing is, isn't that too high as it wraps around the dining room?

You are trying too hard to make the staircase more appealing.

Here are the problems:

The tiny trim on the door; the builders railings; the oversized furniture, which is visually heavier than the stair case.

This area needs color drenching.

Yes there is too much heavy furniture and I'm planning on getting rid of the buffet and probably the mirror too. I'm trying to figure out the wainscoting and where it should go and how high. Thanks
