Thank you, yes, that's what I was planning. Do you think the lighting itself will look good, given its size? I have overhead recessed lighting in the rest of the kitchen. This will be two, 60 watt task lights. the island itself will have some stools but no sink or cooktop in the island. I'm thinking it'll be fine but don't want it to be too small. I also am not feeling the need to make a big statement with very large lights. Behind it is a large picture window with a sink underneath. I don't want large lights to block the view...

It would be good to see the space .60 watt lights are done and gone you use LED bulbls I like 4000K for task light , So further toward the middle then 10" and you want the whole island lit so make sure 2 will be enough

Create some mock ups about that size (balloons are an easy way to do this) and hang them with string to see what you think
