Would you post additional photos of the room, please. All decor looks off side and the large chest to the left of fireplace isn't helping. I see a rug, possibly laid in the wrong direction.

I would match the height of two whatevers (book cases, chests, etc) to work with the height of the single window. Turn the rug and put two chairs on either side of fireplace; face the sofa to fireplace and put your new console behind the sofa.

It doesn't matter if the matching piece, left of fireplace, fills the wall. Focus on the fireplace and that window.

I would do a gallery wall with smaller art, to break up all the large "landscape" rectangles in the space. I would not add another large rectangle, even if it is a portrait orientation.

I’d try to break up all the angles with open shelving or lots of curves and layering. Test different things. If you center the chair under the window, that side will feel more balanced.

The chest is both too deep and too wide for that spot. It looks squished and the traffic paths would be more generous if it was out of the way there. If it needs to stay in this room, can it go under the window? Or in front of the triple window? In either of those positions, it would no impact a traffic path. With your adorable little ones running around, a wide and unimpeded traffic path is even more useful.

I suggest the curtains for the triple window be simplified by having one on either side, instead of the third one in the middle. Although, unless you need them for privacy, I would not curtain these windows at all. The curtains take up depth in the room and impact potential furniture placement. Not a good idea in this relatively small room.

Finalize the furniture placement before buying wall art. Ideally, the chest will fit under the high window, and without the curtains you will have space to put the single chair under the triple window. A single large round end table in the corner between the sofa and chair will serve both. Remove the plant and the small round table. Maybe nothing needs to go the left of the fireplace.

I disagree with the recommendations to fill the space with smaller items. It think it will look very busy.

I would look for something large and unique. I like the idea of things that are not just another large rectangle.
