Bathroom remodeling

last month

Hi! Id appreciate any ideas please and thank you!
Thinking of using the sticky floor tiles instead of ripping the whole thing apart.. paint the walls and add modern panels.

What is your budget and what are the goals for your bathroom? Do you want to change it entirely or just make cosmetic changes? You need to answer theses and other questions in order for folks to give you advice.

Whats wrong with the floor tiles you have. They appear to be in decent condition, just needing a good professional cleaning.

What do you mean by modern panels. I would get the floor cleaned, and paint the room, a lighter shade of a color that you happen to like, and buy some new towels, to display on a towel rack, and some nice art work. The bathroom, looks to be in nice condition yet, just needs to be spruced up a bit.

Agree with cat 👆. You just need some deep cleaning and then sprucing.

Paint the walls a clean off-white and toss the rugs, shower curtain and art. If you’re feeling extra adventuresome, paint the vanity too. All those things are dull.

What’s your favorite color? Use that color in rugs, towels, curtain, and (much larger) art.

We can’t see your lighting. It might need updating too.

Are you sure you don't want to avoid the big remodeling and just add wallpaper and new linens for the room?

    @Jenn

I would certainly keep the ceramic flooring, clean it and use Grout Refresh (available in different colours) to make it look like new.

Question: what do you mean by wall panels?

Something like this. What color should I paint the vanity?

Im really bad at this. I appreciate everyone

The beadboard paneling conveys a more traditional/vintage style. Is that the look you're hoping to achieve? Does the vanity need to be painted?

I would forget about the panels. Your bathroom doesnt need them. Just paint the walls all a nice color top to bottom.

Agree ^ I’d spend my money on polishing up some details - like a gorgeous washable rug - for a cleaner look with the shower curtain, you can have a ceiling mount track on the soffit then a custom length curtain that goes to just above the floor and double the width so it feels more full/custom (Several custom shower curtain folks on Etsy, they are not that much more expensive and I think make a big difference)

A lighter wall color, updated lighting, mirror, and hardware will have a big impact.

Then comes accessorizing and pour over bathrooms to help you decide on a look. Suggest a rug at the vanity, non slip bath mat (hung over tub when not in use). Simple, light shower curtain, larger art and hang lower.

The floors are light blue as well as the shower wall. What color walls should I paint the walls?

Ok, they looked gray in your picture. Please post a close-up picture so that we can see what the floor looks like as well as the shower walls.

Both photos till looks gray on my screen, anyway you can take a better picture, perhaps with more light? Perhaps place something white next to the tile (sheet of paper) then the blue might stand out. It must be a very greyish blue?

They look like gray on my screen too. However, if they are blue, then perhaps a very nice light blue, and then some darker blue towels, etc, and artwork with the darker blues in it too. I also notice on your tub, that it needs to be recaulked. That would be the first thing, I would do, since you have a shower in there. The existing caulking is old, and its rusty looking, and water could be leaking into the wall, or running down the wall, to under tub, etc. Remove all the caulking that is there, and scrub it all very clean (clorox foam cleaner with bleach, will clean it and disinfect it well), and then put all new white caulk there. Make sure you buy the type caulk, that is for bathtub caulking. A hint, so you get a better looking row, if you are unused to doing caulking is to use painters tape, on the tile, and on the bathtub, and caulk after that, smoothing it nicely. Remove the painters tape immediately when you are completely done with one side. Then wet your finger, and lightly give one last smoothing.
