Recommendation on wall to wall carpet

last month

I'm starting early planning for replacing my LR and entry carpet. previously we had a lovely wool loop wall to wall carpet cut and bound to the exact size we needed. id like to replace with same customization. is there reccomendations on brands people would make for me to start looking at? im at a loss as to where to even find quality wool wall to wall anymore.

where did you get the last carpet? Have you asked neighbors? people in your community?

    I prefer to shop locally.

thats part of my problem, my DH bartered design work with a designer he worked with previously and we do not have access to him anymore, i was hoping to get brand reccomendations so I could narrow down who carries them locally and the hopefully identify a lstore that carries it and maybe even find other brands through that store.

Stanton is one source. Masland and Couristan and Earth Weave are others. You can look at wool nylon blends too.

I should probably add that im looking for a rug that has some larger scale pattern to it. here is a pic or what we are planning to replace.

MY advice is look at commercial carpet that is where you will find that type of pattern. I will of course have to ask why on earth wall to wall carpet ever ? No matter how good the quality they are a gross choice always IMO . A nice hardsuface floor and an amazing area rug will always be better IMHO

We just did this exact thing. I was looking for wool because that is what we were replacing. We were advised that new nylon fibers are warrantied for 20 years against staining and matting down. As this was going under a kitchen table, we chose the new nylon fiber carpet.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting the reason for wall to wall is because we had it cut and bound to the perfect size for our living room. the carpet we have now was commercial . is there brands you recommend?

The best way is to find a good carpet store in your area and thye could possibly steer you in the right direction for commercial flooring . The reason I mention commercial is usually that is where you get more actual pattern in carpet since large spaces can handle large pattern. Istill do not know why this exact sizing of carpet in a home since area rugs are so easily found in pattern and color .

Instead of starting with a brand, maybe contact well known local retailers to see if they carry or can recommend where to find “commercial (large) patterned” carpeting to help narrow down choices and your budget might do the same. Also search on line, to see what companies carry/if local and look for reviews.

I have used Stanton wool in many areas of my house and been very happy with them. They have held up well to dogs, cats, children, etc. They look best when you pay for handstitched binding rather than the less expensive tape. tape.

Thanks everyone for your input. ive been away but i thought id show a better picture of what we currently have. we like the scale of the pattern and would like to have something similar in scale especially because the other pattens in the room are smaller in scale. the second reason for looking for a wall to wall we can cut to size is wed like to repeat in the entry as we currently have. the entry rug is a size thta you can it find in a pre made rug. this is essentially one room we have divide the entry with the sofa and console.

Agree with the advice to go to an established local flooring retailer and see what you like - there are some bolder patterns out there for sure, which can be fun

Go to a reputable nearby rug store where you can see the brands they have and get receommendations as to quality.
