Pantry cabinet

I am planning my stove wall. I am using secondhand cabinets that I have collected for free. I am sanding and painting them. I came across this pantry cabinet and I love it and think it is very useful. It was not part of my original plan, but I think I would like to use it. Here are my inspiration photos. I worry that the symmetry might be too off. It is not super important to me, but how do you think this looks? Or is there something I could add to the left side to balance it. These are AI photos so the measurements are way off. There will actually be another 15 inch cabinet between the hood and the pantry cabinet.

What is the measurement between the cooktop edge and the pantry cabinet side?

Pulling together a kitchen from secondhand cabinets will be a challenge. Consider doing a floor plan with measurements and a rendering using the actual cabinet sizes since the AI-generated rendering you posted is not accurate. Also add some photos of your kitchen space and the cabinets you will be using. If you post all that here you will likely get good feedback.

    Good luck!

(24“ cabinet corner where counters meet). Stove wall run is 128”. cabinets left to right 26”, 16”, 42” range hood, 16”, 26” pantry. with small fillers.

Benjamin Moore has Advance paint specifically for cabinets. There's yt videos on the procedures to follow.

Assuming your range is 36” wide, that layout gives you 19” between the range edge and the pantry cabinet. It should be okay but doublecheck that it meets building code and the range’s mfr installation requirements. It’s tight counter space for the chef cooking on the right range burners.

ISorry I am having difficulty understanding used cabinets and a hood that cost what new cabinets would have . Symmetry ids over rated IMO but my big issue in the design is the over the top hood with basic builders cabiets and small drwers for strorge for pots and pans . That pantry cabinet is adding another layer of stuff on that wall that will just make it look bad . Get a nice simple pantry cabinet that at least matches the rest of the cabinets .

You usually use the pantry cabinet as part of prep, so ideally it would be easily reached from the prep zone, which is probably in your sink cabinet run.

Have you actually acquired that super-ornate hood surround? It is such a strong visual element that any aesthetic decisions really depend on whether it will exist in reality not in AI.

Per these pictures, I do prefer the symmety. But if storage is needed you have to factor function into the equation.

It does not look bad with the full cabinet, just prefer the symmetry.

First good for you for re-using cabinets!

Symmetry is over rated. Its rare that things need to line up and rarer that someone stands in front of the area 100% dead on. The usefulness of a tall cabinet makes up for any loss of symmetry.

Also agree to post your floor plan. In the AI rendering it looks like there is a blank wall to the right of the tall cab. That would be unusual in a kitchen.

I'd also make sure you keep the overall scale correct - that hood treatment is huge. I am always encouraged when someone does a hood larger than the cooktop but that seems like it's 12" wider on each side and "heavy" for the scale of the appliance shown, I think.

Symmetry is the least of the issues. We need to see the cabinets you are using to see the style of the pantry cabinet and how it will work We have asked if that over the top hood is part of the design so please answer those questions. I will sya I used used cabinets in a renovation , very good solid maple but even with all my kitchen design experience it was a very tricky install for sure and took me many hours of planning and replanning to make it work. So please give us som visuls and the to scale plan and even better the sizes of all the used cabinets.
