Need help finding the right Family Room Rug

last modified: 2 months ago

Thinking of moving this 8 x 10 rug upstairs, so I need to replace it. Currently Ivory background with Blue accents. Coordinates with blues in artwork, pillows, basket throw - all of which can move upstairs with the rug. Got a lot of brown in that room (flooring, sofa, chairs, coffee/end tables), so trying to stay away from browns. Need something light, but doesn't show dirt (grandkids, granddogs)

Need suggestions for rug, artwork, fan. The walls are all the same color, lighting makes the fireplace wall look more goldish. This is a west-facing room - Phoenix.

UPDATE - thanks to BeverlyFLADeziner for the guidance on changing the light bulbs. Below is a pic of the old bulb on the left (which turns the wall yellow) and the new bulb on the right (which makes the room brighter).

I also wanted to explain a little more about the color scheme. The light Navy in the rug pulls together the blue/gray of the bluestone table, the blues in the artwork, the blue throw in the basket and the navy blue vase on the mantle.

In an effort to lighten things up, I brought in some white pillows from another room and changed out the mantle vase to white for some of the photo comparisons.

At this point, I agree I need a larger rug ( 9 x 11 or 12), but I'd like to keep the Navy accent. Also, I know I need to change out the dated coffee table and end tables. Since it's such a great storage piece, I was thinking maybe replacing the coffee table with a big ottoman with storage. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Back to the original question - if anyone has a good lead on a Light background rug with Navy accents, please let me know.

Also any guidance on what to put on my empty bluestone table would be a plus!!
