Does the dresser have other cabinets in its line? Typically, they have complimentary cabinets such as night stands etc.

I prefer not to match furniture in a room, more of a curated look.

I would even do a painted piece.

for me, a drawer for junk and open legs, not a solid to the floor piece.

That is pretty. I wouldn’t have thought of a style like that but it looks modern.

To contrast the wood finish, a painted cabinet or a darker finish might be the way to go.

Definitely love a nightstand with a drawer (or two) and a bottom shelf. Decades ago, I painted a mahogany pair that I bought because I needed them to be creamy/ivory. Still using them because they’re perfect in size and utility.

Look at thrift stores, garage sales, giveaways on Craigslist, etc.

What ever style of nightstand you decide on,do ensure that the height is ergonomically correct.
Having the same height as the top of the mattress is usually most comfortable.You will be able to reach straight across without needing to bend your arm up or down to place or retrieve items.
You will appreciate the ease of accessing the stand top without contorting your arm and compensating for a height difference.
This seems like a minor detail,but do try out the height before purchase!
Once you choose the stands,it is fairly easy to make small adjustments to the legs,glides can be quickly attached.

And if you read in bed, the proper height of the night stands AND lamps matter.
