Has anyone used SPC wall panels in their bathrooms on the walls and/or in the shower? Is this a better alternative over plaster?

We are remodeling a bathroom and the contractor mentioned the SPC as an option for the bathroom walls and shower walls. They also sell acrylic panels for the shower. I do not want to deal with tile and grout but I don't want to go with cheap materials either.
