should my peninsula match other cover panels?

howdy

have put together a bodarp ikea kitchen, but can't decide on the 3 exposed sides of the base cabinets.

i'd like some sort of contrast, but i'm not sure if i should do that at all, or if it should be on 2 sides, or all 3 sides. there will be no bar to sit at, as there is not enough room. not sure if that makes a difference.

i was personally wanting to do 2 askersund panels on the 2 long sides, and leave the short side green, since that is the only side adjacent to a cabinet door.

open to any suggestions/reality checks.. thank you

Because you have a penninsula and not a free standing island. Do the same color cabinetry all around.

Notice in this photo the over stove vent is the same color as the cabinetry.

ha, well i don't really have any furnishing -- need a new couch, coffee/end tables, etc. so basically a blank slate.

i guess some form of modern would be the closest, the only other finishes really are some white dmf cylinder pendant lights and 3" recessed lights from them.

kind of what i gathered from way too much googling and the fact that I can find basically z e r o images of what i want.

you dont have a lot of cabinetry so imo all the cabinetry should be same color. if you really want to make the outside panels different, go with s wood tone to complement your furnishings.
btw the vent hood in the green kitchen is stainless steel

All the same or it will look like you weant to the return pile and bought cabinets. and as mentioned thye are all part of the same run of cabinets

I like where your mind is going with the different colored doors and think a skilled designer could make it look great. It it takes a lot of work to pull it off well.

If your *entire* peninsula is all green on all sides, with no white showing, and only the three doors on the peninsula run in a medium to dark walnut like wood, it cold look great. Can you do pull that off easily with these ikea pieces? If so, go for it.

But if you can't make the back of the sink, the back of the corner cabinet, and the rails between the doors green, then don't attempt it. It will look unintentional and like a discounted find.

If all the colors are green, you can still end up with a nice looking kitchen.

It can look either very modern - or it can look like you couldn’t make up your mind. I would go with all the cabinetry one color and do modern design on another part of the room.
