For a 100yr craftsman going white-on-white, the key is getting the right undertone contrast. BM White Dove on the body with Simply White on the trim gives you that creamy vs crisp difference without looking beige. The trim needs to read cooler and brighter, not just lighter.

Another option is BM Linen White (body) vs Chantilly Lace (trim) if you want a bit more warmth. Since the house faces coastal light, warmer whites will look cooler than they do on chips.

One white, in different sheens, can make a perfect combo for white on white.

I never specify a technically classified color of white or off white for an exterior. If you do want a white trim, ask your painter about his process for bright white exterior, he'll recommend one to use.

For a Craftsman I would steer you away from a bright white because I don't think it's a good fit for a Craftsman.

Are there examples of Craftsmen with bright white trim - yes.

That's why my professional opinion is white isn't a good answer for a Craftsman.

Instead, we'd test this pair first.

I know - not white. But hear me out.

Gray Mist shows up exterior as almost white. Revere Pewter - similiar situation. Both show up far less colorful, intense than you'd guess from the chip or interior samples/examples.

What ever colors you choose to test (because of what you want to achieve) I'd strongly recommend testing LARGE swatches. Buy quarts in the brand, grade and sheen you want to use. Samplize or free large paint chips aren't the right plan.

You could get lucky in the first round of testing but be prepared to be patient and don't rush.

White on white exterior palettes can be challenging to get right.
