Think I want a matching side table…

I know all the experts have told me the matchy matchy side table is out these days. But I can’t help feeling like this is offkilter. Any suggestions?

I think a matching side table would look good. The one you have in the front of the picture is too small, I wonder if the one at the end of the sofa is, too, but it's hard to tell. Ignore trends. If you follow this year's trend, it will be so dated in 3-5 years.

Thank you! I should have clarified. The one in between the two sofas is the one I want to match. It's 25" high and 28" round. It is well placed inbetween the two sofas. This viewpoint is head on as you're walking from foyer into the room. So basically there would be matching side tables on either side of the sofa that has the pink wall art behind it.

(Yes the martini table is too small but immediatly to the right of that is my kids digital keyboard so there's not a lpt of room there, and this is functional)

The fish eye image really distorts the proportions!

Agree. You like symmetry; I like symmetry. Put the lamp in the middle of the table (middle of window). Floor lamp is nice; can it go next to the right facing arm of the sofa?

I thought Sigrid was commenting on the table between the two leather chairs (in front of the large art that will be over the FP) - however, maybe I'm wrong. I think the one that is currently there is a better size between those two chairs.

I agree with Kendrah - no to adding another matching end table on the other side of the small sofa.

I think that the one to the left of the larger sofa looks a bit small - maybe switching a matching one for that one. However, it may be too large for over there if that is where your digital keyboard is. Do you really need that one there?

    It is a very pretty/calm room. 🙂

A matching round brown/black table on the left of the sofa, that is straight ahead, will look fine.

I would then get rid of the one between the leather chairs. You have a coffee table, so you don't have to have a side table next to every chair/sofa.

Your round end table is beautiful, but I too wouldn't put a matching one on the other side of the small sofa. I think your room is lovely just the way it is.

The lack of a second side table doesn't feel off kilter to me, but what does is the fact that the lamp appears to teeter on the edge of the table. I agree with the comment to move the lamp to the center of the table more in line with the pedestal. If it's an issue of reaching over to turn it on, a smart bulb will solve that problem.

I would do it, they are different from your coffee table so doesn't look as a set.

@lisedv - Great rending as always! It appears from the comment below that the OP wants to leave the small martini table in place by the dog. They are wanting to add the matching table to the left of the shorter sofa - the sofa with the pink artwork behind it.

@Kendrah thank you for your comment. I think I prefer the matching table where I placed it at this end of the sofa with a matching lamp, and the small martini table I would place at the other end of the loveseat with the floor lamp.

I concur a small martini table would look better next to the small sofa but the OP said it is in the current location because: "Yes the martini table is too small but immediatly to the right of that is my kids digital keyboard so there's not a lpt of room there, and this is functional"

Well, guess I didn't read all of her comments. Perhaps that can be moved but since we don't see it in her pictures difficult to come up with a suggestion.

I'd keep the small side table and simply add some type of simple floor lamp. I don't think you need another full end table and table lamp.

I think you do need another table and lamp but to replace thta funny little one beside the dog.

Thank You everyone!! Lots of great suggestions here. I got caught up in the last week of school before spring break and sick kids. I want to try some of your options, and maybe take better photos. And will circle back.

I LOVE the "mock up" with the dark brown matching table on the end of the couch, where the drink table currently is...that's a lovely piece of art! (lisevd...showed it)
