Can you post a wider view of the space? I'm not seeing room for a bench.

Based on your photo, I would think about painting the door and adding a rug and some art. I can see that the black door color echoes your lighting and railing but in the photo the door looks like a black hole.

No space for a bench but a fun entry mat and some art on the wall could work.

The space is so small I don't think there is room for anything other than a small keydrop table.

Are you planning to have the family enter through the mudroom and garage, then use the front door mainly for guests? If you want suggestions for that option, you can post photos of the mudroom and garage entrance.

I agree fun entry mat. If guests come in here then put low profile hooks on wall for coats etc. there are some that stay hidden when not on use.

I'd leave it open. I you really need a drop zone, get a small, corner table or chair for the righthand corner.

In addition to a rug, I'd consider adding a wreath(inside).

I used these from Umbra at my front door for guests I did them in white on a white wall so they kind of disappear but work great for even winter coats . . I have no space for a proper coat rack
