Looks well proportioned and well balanced. I keep a basket under mine where I keep umbrellas (I live in Florida so it's nice to have them where they're easy to grab going out the door.

So far what you have is great. Lamp could be a little bigger but it's fine. My issue is the candles are too skimpy. Bring down the mirror 2 inches or so, will be perfect. You can place some decorative book box to hold excess keys, anything you want hidden but need time to time. Place it under the plant. I would get 2 or 3 large jute boxes under the console.

I could see a basket for mittens or other things you need nearby. Otherwise, a stack of oversized books would look nice and could hide the outlet/cords.

Tape or otherwise affix the excess lamp cord onto the upper back of the console and paint the outlet cover the same as the wall color (vent cover, too, as suggested above by porkchop). I like your current styling of the console.

Personally I like the lamp where you had it, it seems to me to be more balanced with the weight of the lamp away from the wall pillar, and the nice shape and color of it stands out more.

I’ve done that by attaching a Command hook on the upper back of the console to wind the excess cord around.

I like it just the way it is, except that if you can hide the cords that would give you a cleaner look. Painting the outlet and the vent to match the wall would also give a cleaner look, but I don't think most people would notice those in daily life. They're more apparent in a photograph.

My two cents:

Books have a useful purpose; they are for reading. They are not props. Baskets have a useful purpose; they are for storage. Otherwise they just take up space and gather dust. Presumably you have shelves or bookcases for your books, and presumably you store things where you use them, so you need neither books nor baskets on that console.

If you use that mirror to check your appearance before leaving or entering, then it has a useful purpose. If it reflects light into a darkened area, then it has a useful purpose. Otherwise, it's only purpose currently is aesthetic—which is still a purpose. You might, however, consider hanging art where you currently have the mirror, to see if that would make you happier with the look of the area as a whole.

By books, there are some decorative book covers that are fake books with an empty middle as a box for storage for keys. Not all decorative books are actual books for reading!

Those are, by definition, boxes. Not books.

Yes, but the picture I posted looked like a book. Just pointing out it was not a book, but a decorative box. Some people scroll by fast and look at the photos without reading.
