I have a pair of Ruti barrel leg - the loose leg barrel pant- that I love. Pants are usually not my friend and I find them fairly flattering for me. I wore them EVERY SINGLE day of my trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. They washed up great in the sink and dried overnight. I just ordered the rust colored linen ones hoping for the same, but I doubt I get as lucky.

I ordered the same ruffled tee Sue shared above ... and I love it! I ordered a little too big but I am going to keep it as sometimes you just want an oversized flowy look. I also ordered a smaller size. I like it enough to have 2 different fits/looks.

I had to order a few other pieces for a work-related funeral this week. I tried to shop from my closet but I havent needed this kind of outfit since I lost 90lb so the purchases were a necessity. I hope I guessed sizes right as I don't have time to order anything else.

Also related to weight loss, I bought a smaller belt from RL and some new SOMA bras -- all on sale this weekend.

Legomom IME linen takes a bit longer to dry than other fabrics. Do the Ruti slacks hang appropriately? That’s my biggest problem with pants.

Today I have a phone meeting with our accountant and need to tidy up after yesterdays hurricane of visitors, then friend dinner and choir practice this evening. It was 47 when I woke up, and will only hit 66 today. OOTD is brown and white gingham slacks (target via poshmark), my favorite style of top, a mock neck short sleeved sweater, and brown loafers.

I think the top is from Loft, the printed info in the inside back is all but washed away, and these Frye shoes are that kind of lovely soft leather that remind me how much more I like leather than the faux/vegan substitute, even though I would like to move further away from leather because .. animals.

They hang appropriately on me - but I carry my weight in my butt and thighs - so finding pants I like is hard. Skirts are much more flattering generally. Generally I need anything with a wide leg to be flowy and not too wide - so for my particular figure they work. There's a lot of talk that Old Navy has a really good dupe for cheap if you can find your size in stock and wanted to try the look.

I ordered these from Boden for starters, to determine size. If I like the fit I have my eye on several pair.

@1929Spanish-GW, I was looking at that very pair of jeans, but decided to try them on in person next time I am in the city.

I hope I guessed sizes right as I don't have time to order anything else. Funky, do you have a measuring tape? That will help

    Kswl thanked mtnrdredux_gw

Yes, I have/use a measuring tape ... that helps but I don't think that is foolproof especially for things like suit jackets and pants. Or for knowing if the style is flattering or makes my behind look huge.

Not just my size is changing, my shape is changing. I think that makes it harder to get a fit right ... and when you have just days notice.

Appreciate the dress input! I learned the wedding is at 11:00am. I do like the 3rd dress, though I'm not entirely certain if that shape will work on me or not. Sometimes I can't pull off a dress that's too rigid or structured. But it seems worth trying.

I ordered jeans from Abercrombie on March 19 and they just arrived! No back order, I guess they’re just slow?? I haven’t tried them on yet. I wasn’t even sure what was in the package, it had been so long LOL.

I realized today I have an embarrassing number of new tees. Don’t let me buy any more!

However, items I ordered Wed last week expeditited are still not here. Most will arrive tomorrow. One is to arrive NEXT Monday.

I spent all morning looking for a simple sweatshirt. Checked Nordstrom Rack, Target, REI and D's sporting goods.
Substantial but not scuba thick, not boxy or cropped, not a sepia-toned color. Looked at so many and could not find anything.
    Made me feel old!

Have you tried the Calia soft scuba 1/4 zip at Dick's SG? They feel so nice.

    Kswl thanked mtnrdredux_gw

My sister and niece love Calia products for golf and general leisure.

I have been living in 1/4 zips lately ... I have largely switched to AE this last month but you have to size down like 2 sizes! I also like Nike for spring and Athleta for cooler mornings/evenings.

Y'all are so sweet to give me suggestions. I've ordered a few things from Bean, Old Navy and Lands End. Shopped in person at the big shopping area down the street - Alo, Lulu, Lily Pulitzer, J McLaughlin, Anthro, J Crew, Madewell, REI, Vineyard Vines, Talbots. Phew.
I did get something at the PGA superstore which is fine but not exactly what I was looking for. I am being a very picky Goldilocks.

A fashion(less) story. Yesterday I had my annual physical at 3:30, then early dinner with friends at 5:30. Because, you know, I had to get on the scale, I wore the lightest clothes I could find: a simple tee shirt and Athleta joggers. Assuming I’d have time to change before dinner. Ha. I finally left the appt in exactly enough time to get to dinner. Fortunately it was a casual, tavern-style place but still, I felt a little weird. But no one noticed, of course…the place was kinda dark and I am at an ”invisible” age. And these were the kind of friends who could not care less how I look!

    Kswl thanked Sueb20

LOL Sue ... but really, I never thought to wear "light clothes". How could I have skipped that all these years! Last visit (January), I wore a heavy sweater (which I took off after weighing so they could take my BP) and a ridiculously heavy belt. I joked that I should remove the belt-- but didnt.

    Kswl thanked Funkyart

Ok, true confessions here: Not only do I take off my shoes, I also remove any sweaters, scarves, my watch and any heavy jewelry, and empty my pockets. If I could strip naked (in provacy!) I would do so. I always get on the scale but now the nurses at the offices of my regular GP and endocrinologist — both of whom I see every six months— ask me how much I weighed that morning. If I did weigh I tell them and they use it.

BTW am not obsessed with my weight, at least not for vanity. They follow me for two autoimmune diseases and know I track my weight and BP daily, or almost daily. I bumped into a rounded doorknob in the ladies’ room a week ago when I took my mother to Atlanta to see Dancing With the Stars. The site on my arm is still open and occasionally bleeding.… nutritional status/ basal metabolism is an important metric and no reason it should not be accurate.

I wish they’d ask what I weigh at home! the scale at the dr is always 2-4 lbs higher. And in the late afternoon…

My weight was up 3 lbs from a year ago, no comment from the dr. And I wasn’t wearing heavy jewelry LOL.

    Kswl thanked Sueb20

Late afternoon is an absolutely horrific time to ask you to get on a scale!

My appts are almost always at 7 or 7:30am and even then I make mental adjustments for my coffee 😂

Someday I hope to be less tied to the # .... but that will take some time (and therapy, I suspect).

    Kswl thanked Funkyart

I have the same problem, and knowing it is illogical does not help. Weighing less frequently helps, because if I am doing the "right thing," I will get a loss if I give it long enough. We all know that you can gain a pound or two overnight for virtually no reason. But over say, two weeks, you are more likely to reflect reality IME.

    Kswl thanked mtnrdredux_gw

Restaurant meals, which usually have far more sodium (and more calories) than I take in at home, almost always cause a gain the following day, sometimes almost a pound.

Can confirm about restaurant meals. Just this morning, SO wanted to eat lunch at a local restaurant. I ordered the healthiest thing I could find on the menu, and am up 2 lbs this evening. I did not eat enough calories today to gain 2 lbs.

With regard to weight at dr appts, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in my 20s. It's been stable for several years, and so my PCP manages it at this point. At an appt about 5 years ago, I miraculously weighed in at the same weight as the year prior. My PCP said, "Your weight hasn't changed. I bet that's a struggle for you, isn't it?" I nearly threw my hands in the air and yelled, "YES, IT IS!" I felt so validated.

I think the scales in doctors' offices should be in private rooms where you're allowed to remove your clothes and then step on the scale, to be read in another room. I give urine samples in private. Why not my weight?

    Kswl thanked Feathers11

Feathers, I agree! And i have noticed that instead of measuring your height each time some offices are simply asking the patient how tall they are. People lose height — some more thsn ofherd— and that is half of the BMI calculation; if it isn’t correct they may not get the nutritional counseling they need. A few years ago my mother told a nurse she was 5’3” and she is barely over 5’ at this point. I spoke to the nurse privately but wondered if she was either uninterested or in such a rush she did not actually look at my mother before she entered the number. This was a specialist office at Emory.

I also have Hashimoto’s but it is unfortunately far from stable, and a clotting disorder. Keeping meticulous records of what I eat, exercise and weight are helpful both to me and physicians. Yesterday was day 1,422 of food tracking.

Sorry to have gotten so off track from what to wear. I blame Sue! 😎

My Dr.s office has a scale in each room, so weigh ins are private. I suppose one could strip, LOL

some offices are simply asking the patient how tall they are.

If they ask me, I’m going to answer, confidently and with a straight face, 5’6” and see if they’re paying attention and call me out. I’m actually 5’3”.

Another no makeup or hair yet photo taken this am. I was out early to drop off some signed stuff to the accountant then off to spend several hours in Flovilla Ga to work on arrangements for our May concert there. Back home to host book club at 3 pm, my meeting ran late and I was panicking bc I had no snacks ready 😳 Stopped at the golf club on the way home and explained the dilema to the restaurant manager, left with a triple chocolate cheesecake TDF and it was a big hit. Whew!

This morning’s “feels like” temp was 47 when I left the house! Black slacks, gray sweater with scarf and snakeskin flats. I also wore a cropped camel ultrasuede jacket that was needed until about noon.

No. We go to Yahola Creek for dinner sometimes when we’re at our lake house.

Our lunch bunch group goes there too, and when we perform at the ampitheatre I rent the McMichael cottage (the one with the vintage pickup in the carport) that is on the corner alongside Big Chief. We’ve also stayed there for board retreats. Frankie bought all the real estate years ago and is responsible for the area’s growth and improvement. Her house is TDF 😍

Such a small world, lol… two people on the vast internet who know that teensy hamlet!

OOTD: gingham seersucker skirt, white tee and navy merino sweater (Bbstx rules!) with ancient white and red Burberry cotton bandanna and red woven leather, tie strap Mary Janes. And a red croc embossed leather watchband from Quince, it’s four years old and has faded to a kind of rose color that I actually like better.

It’s cool this morning for errands with my mom: to the bank and pharmacy and then lunch out. I’ll have to change for afternoon golf but will have plenty of time to do so. Today felt like a skirt day!

  • yesterday

Golf attire was perfect for late afternoon play, there was a nice breeze and full sun. This golf skort is a vintage Liz Claiborne in red and baby blue seersucker, with a white grosgrsin ribbon running around the top edge (not visible). It was huge when I bought it and had it tailored to fit because I love the color combination and fabric. Today I wore it with a white tee and cashmere sweater but when it gets warmer I have a short-sleeved quarter zip in the same blue.

Worked on my fairway game today using either a three wood or five hybrid to tee off and used same club (whichever it was for that hole) until I had proximity to the green. This practice techniqie was suggested by our former league president (and five time ladies’ club champ) who played with me. It was great!!!!

Love the skirt. I always like baby blue with a hti of red. It's about the only way I like red.

Excuse my sloppy display, but I found this for $20 at TJ Maxx. It is a medium/light weight denim jacket, cute floral lining. I think I’m going to add some embroidery somewhere.

ETA the orig price tag was $78.

Oh that will be fun to embroider! I also bought a discounted denim jacket this morning -- mine is white and I am thinking it will work well with summer dresses. It is from Lucky Brand.

The single best purchase this last month was new bras! I went down a band size and it really makes a big difference. First, I am not fiddling with it through the day but it also looks so much better. Everything is in the right place and doesnt move. I caught a very good sale and bought 5. I should be set for awhile.

BTW I am wearing the Soma Enbliss Wireless -- it is very comfortable but provides a lot of support with no wires.

Not something to wear ... but I will look smart and pretty next to my new Shagreen Scrabble game! I was silly excited to find an open box/returned set with everything still sealed. It arrives on my birthday 😊

ooh love the white denim @Funkyart and the floral lining is soooo cute @Sueb20. I wish I knew how to embroider. You are just bursting with creative energy Sue.

That shagreen set is gorgeous! I got a winter set for xmas from DH 2 yrs ago. But my Mj set has pride of place now on our game table 24/7. They have such lovely MJ sets. My tiles have gold koi on them.

I bought this mat because it has helpful instructions:

But I am eying this one:

    And of course tortoise racks...

    There's even a MJ Lookbook!

Finally - an article of clothing that I can comment on with experience! Funky - The Soma Embliss bras are my all time favorites. I have several Embliss - both the bras and the Bralettes and really like them.

Love the golf outfit Kswl - very playful!

Mtn- the MJ pad would make a lovely scarf.

Mtn, the MJ set/pads are so pretty!

Yes, Maire! My favorites too. I havent tried the bralettes -- I went a little overboard on bralettes during the pandemic.

I need underwire. Preferably steel girders in fact.

I wear the Soma Enbliss too. They are as comfortable as a bra can be. Based on the forecast, I am rethinking my Tulipmania clothing plan. Grrr.
