Hi there, I was worried about that too in the beginning. I don't find that it stains, but it does sometimes mark if something oily doesn't get wiped up. When you clean it, you need to dry it, and keep wiping until it's dry. Once in a while, a mark doesn't go away, but I've found over time that it get a nice patina. I went to a design house in Boston that had honed granite countertops that weren't pristine, but had a beautiful patina, so I've become more relaxed about it. So, to make a long story long (sorry!), if you want it to always look the way it looks when first installed, it may not be right for you; but if you're open to it acquiring a patina over time, it will still look beautiful, just not brand new.

thanks for responding karen. By patina, what do you mean? Does it retain the "whiteness" ? And do you seal it often? thanks again ! I love love love the look. Just nervous.

You're welcome! My honed granite is black (black absolute on the perimeter countertops) so there's no whiteness. The marks only show up depending on how the light hits it. In direct sunlight, they're more noticeable. Are you asking about the Kashmir White granite on my island? That's actually polished, not honed. It hasn't stained for me, and we haven't resealed it yet. It's 2 years old, so I will see how it's doing next year.

hmm. Okay someone told me that water "rings" look white on the black honed? So, I was wondering if that was permanent ? And yes, I do love the white granite too ! :)
