exterior color help!

Looking for new exterior color, shutter and door color. I like the idea of edgecomb gray with halcon green shutters, but my husband can’t visualize. Any suggestions ?!

Edgecomb Gray is a beige-gray. It looks different on every house. Put it next to your roof color and your stone or brick. If your roof has cool tones, Edgecomb will look warmer. If your roof is warm, Edgecomb might look muddy. Test first. Don't guess. Paint is expensive. Repainting is more expensive.

Will suggest that you remove the shutters. They are obviously not operable and are very much undersized for the windows.

No shutters they do not belong on double windows ever and the single window makes no sense since the shutters are too small. As for color Edgecomb would be my last choice in fact the color you have is better. Maybe a nice green with white trim if you want a color maybe the green you wanted for the shutters

NO shutters. All white, front door the color of the roof.

From what direction does the natural day light come? That information would help pick the white.

For instance, B.M. Oxford White would work with a south facing home. It is a cool white, which won't be ruined by sun light or reflections from plants.

Maybe consider SW Evergreen fog paired with SW Ethereal white trim? I assume you meant SW Halcyon green? Looks a little ”minty” on my screen, but colors can be misleading on screens.

You will have to sample. Use a large board or piece of drywall. Anything small could be deceptive. DH bought a standard sized piece of drywall and cut it into four pieces. Colors look so different on exteriors than on interiors. Bright sunlight can really wash them out. Look at your samples on all sides of the house, at different times of day and under different weather conditions (sunny, cloudy).

If Edgecomb Gray doesn't pan out for you, look at the whole palette of BM's Historical Colors. There are a lot of good colors for exteriors in that group.

Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter (HC-172) → slightly darker, still soft and classic

Benjamin Moore Pashmina (AF-100) → richer, more modern greige

Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth (984) → warmer, deeper beige-gray

These colors are deeper than Edgecomb Gray. Edgecomb Gray is safe, but it can feel a bit washed out on large exteriors in bright sun. If you want more contrast with those Halcyon Green shutters (great choice, by the way), going one shade darker will give you a more finished, higher-end look.
