SW Alabaster is a great bedroom color, goes with any bedding, decor, etc.

Looks like your ceiling is a bit shiny, light glare from the lighting spots.

use a flat, matte finish for the ceiling, egg shell finish for the walls, satin or semi gloss for the trims/doors.

Suggest getting the flooring first. When at the paint store, you’ll be able to see subtle undertone differences. Bring home samples and test against your flooring and see how they look at different times of the day.

Bedding can pull a room together and suggest getting blinds and the fan last, as you’ll have a better sense of what will suit.

Some great ideas. I always thought paint first because the carpet is old and I don't care if it gets dirty, but we can always throw down drop cloths

I think a lighter color floor will look better in the bedroom. It'll lighten up the room.

When in doubt I use this color from BM but can be color matched I cut it 25% and it is IMO a true neutral. I try to stay away from blues they are a bit baby looking often and hard to work with I use it for all walls and ceiling in a bedroom. I cannot belive an HOA tells you what to put inside your home WOW

Yes, that's the problem with an HOA but it's hard to find a Neighborhood with that one these days. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there tile that abuts the bedroom? What's in the other bedrroms? Will you be changing all the flooring in the other bedrooms to match what you want to do in the primary?

I'm sorry but I never heard of an HOA having any jurisdiction on what you do inside your home.

I can't get past an HOA telling anyone what brand of paint has to be used!! That's insane. Is this a rental???? Sorry, but if it meant bringing in paint at 1AM I would intentionally use any brand but the one they 'requre'!! Ceiling are white. Always white, unless you are some upscale over decorated type. NOW that I could see a rental company dictating!! But what brand of white HELL NO!

We have to use Sherwin-Williams paint. I guess I could get away with using another brand inside, but if I were ever to sell the house, I think they have inspectors that come to check the home to make sure that all projects were approved by the HOA. My next home definitely won't be in an HOA.!!

Can you wallpaper? I recently put up this faux grasscloth with a SW Sea Salt ceiling, white trim. It's the most calming bedroom I've ever had. Floors are hardwood with a sea salt color textured area rug which was a carpet remnant piece I had bound into an area rug. Anyone who sees it comments on how warm and cozy it feels. If you wallpaper, go to a local wallpaper store and work through them. I got the wallpaper about six months ago and didn't pay nearly what the price is online. Great advice and service too.

I could wallpaper, but that's gonna be a extra work. Painting is the best option for me.

We used Alabaster in our living room on walls, trim and ceiling and what a gorgeous look...so open feelling.

We used a flat finish for walls and ceiling, semi-gloss for trim. To me, a flat finish has so much depth...no sheen on which the eye can focus.

If no wallpaper, SW Sea Salt is very calming on the walls too. I painted my bedroom a white and found it to be a little harsh for my taste. Sea Salt can look green or bluish, depending on the light

Those are good examples of how to treat a soffet and/or crown molding^^.

Recorded covenants by the developer will provide for the HOA to have an architectural committee that approves/disapproves certain exterior changes/improvements (what has to be approved varies by subdivision).

As Beverly has already commented, they never have any approval rights over the interior of your home - unless you are in a condo (example, structural elements/certain flooring/ability to reroute plumbing/electrical/etc.) - and not a house.

Upon research, I did find they have no jurisdiction over paint choices or companies inside the house so that gives me more color options.
