either one of these light greens would be great with your flooring and the black countertops for a more contemporary look.

Cabinets look very nice. If painted, you want a professional to do it. $$$$$$.

    Suggestion:

Stay with white. Change out the subway tile by either painting the tile or replacing with the countertop material. Change the faucet to brass to match cabinet hardware.

Painting the correct way is an investment. I don't think Edgecomb gray is worth that investment as its impact will not be overly different than what you have.. You are not going to see that much of a difference and it is going to make the grout in your backsplash look off.

Consider having the bottom cabinets professionally painted in a color and leaving the top white. IDK what colors you have in your home but Lyn is correct in that a soft green would compliment your flooring color and your counters as well. Green may not be your thing and you can certainly use other colors with the right amount of contrast and correct tones for your flooring and counters

I am not sure that the shelf above the sink is needed but I would pull it and have a roman shade made to add interest and color

BM saybrook sage is a lovely green you can use. I really like the mock up by Design Interior South. The green lower cabinets and the roman shade and rug make the kitchen pop with warmth

Do you merely want a refresh because you are tired of white or is the paint in poor condition and that is why you want to repaint. A quality professional paint job is very expensive, nearly as much as new cabinets. An inexpensive professional paint job will not last and will start to deteriorate quickly.

If a new look is what you are after, I'd find less expensive ways to get it. New splash, new hardware, remove the shelf above the sink or add new items to it.

As stated you are considering a major investment for what will in the end devalue your home. White is the only 'paint' color that has staying power and is universally accepted. Now if you are in your home for the long haul and thus will get the enjoyment out of the gray (oxymoron as gray is depressing) then maybe but still some day the gray will have to go. The question becomes who will pay for that, your offspring who will take the hit on the home value when selling or a buyer who will gut the kitchen and start over.... The white is what's right about your kitchen. The too dark counter top and busy back splash are off trend. Find a pretty stone with a slight gray veins you like and put it on the counter and up the back splash. Your shaker doors are still relevent, the lowers could be switched to drawers vs doors. That's where the money should be spent to get the most bang for your buck.

The kitchen looks just fine. Spend your money on something else.

I think what you have is fine, but the white is a little stark against the wood flooring, so I can see why you might want to switch it up. I like @Design Interior South's color selection, but could also see it going a little deeper color in either a green or a blue.

Call me crazy but how about a rattan peel and stick wallpaper on the bottom cabinet fronts? It would add texture. Amazon has a handful to chose from. I just wallpapered above my cabinets and it came out great.

As Kendrah has commented above, unless the finish on your cabinets is failing (or your cabinets are inexpensive and you plan on replacing them in the next year or two), I would not paint your factory finished cabinets. Professional painting is $$$$ - anyone who bids a "good price" won't provide a professional cabinet finish. If the pro isn't taking the doors/drawer fronts off site to refinish them, I would be careful about hiring him/her.

You have the "bones" to have a great kitchen - I just think that the "black and white" needs some color. I would think about adding a rug + a roman shade (unless you need that shelf for plants). Plus, I'd add a nice decorative item on your peninsula for extra color -

I always thought that I didn't have a "green thumb" - but that's changed - and it started with an orchid. My SIL gave me a beautiful one for Christmas 2020 - and it's just finished growing a new spike and the first flower opened up yesterday. I've received two more orchids as gifts from one of my daughters and they both are doing well also. They are super easy to care for - no ice cubes - just soak every few weeks.

I also cut flowers from my yard all summer and make arrangements (I make a new one for one of my sisters every week - she lives close to me). They don't have to be as elaborate as this faux one shown below - I just grabbed this photo quickly:

Dried eucalyptus leaves are good to mix with other dried flowers/plants - easy back up for when your orchid is putting out a new spike (= no flowers) or from Nov - May when I don't have fresh plants/flowers from outside

Painting kitchen cabinets is a big investment. Just make sure that whatever color you choose that it looks good in YOUR kitchen. Colors can be tricky. We had our living & dining rooms painted in Edgecomb Gray at previous home, for some reason, idk why, it turned violet in our home. Expensive mistake, it was not the look we were going for.

I do plan on having the doors and both fronts removed and painted offsite. There are a lot of chips and nicks from my grandchildren smashing into them. It’s time for a fresher look . I just need to get away from the stark White.@Dani_m08 what color are your cabinets
