undermount tub surround options

Still debating what to do for a tub for our bathroom remodel.

I like undermount tubs with solid deck surrounds. But I know the full slab of quartz is expensive and I think all the sides would have to be a certain width to prevent breaking?

Is there a reason they couldn’t do four long strips and just have thin seams at the corners? Wouldn’t that save a lot of money vs a full slab? I’m picturing a 66x32” tub, 4” surround, so strips like 74”x4” and 40”x4”.

Is there a logistical reason that doesn’t work? I know a tiled surround is not advised and isn’t the look I want anyway. I’ve gone to bath stores and talked a bit with the contractor but don’t have a solid understanding yet (I need to go to a quartz fabricator I think next…)

Attaching a picture of the current bath that’s getting gutted so it makes sense.
