How can I add curb appeal?
I own a small beach house that has a yellow entry door on the side of the house, and the end of the house faces the street with a double window -- this is also where we park. The house is on piers and we will be installing white lattice under the house. There are stairs to the entry door -- the railing of the stairs will be painted white and stair treads stained to match the deck at the other end of the house -- a white fence surrounding a sandy area for the dogs that also leads to the deck on the beach side of the house, and a white fence surrounding the septic system that faces the street side -- this fence is mostly for safety purposes to keep everyone away from the septic. There is no grass -- the entire lot is gravel except for the area as mentioned for the dogs. The grassy area to the right of our house/gravel belongs to our neighbors.
What can I do to add curb appeal to the front (the end of the house) that faces the street? I feel like there's too much white fencing and the areas seem disjointed -- the space between the septic and the fenced in dog area/deck. I'm at a loss -- help!

the big eyesore is your neighbors lot.
can you take another pic that shows exactly which patch of land you want to landscape? hard to tell from this one angle.
Is there any other house in the neighborhood that has landscaping you like? can you snap a pic of it?
Personally I'd paint the door a brighter color, and redo the siding color. (but maybe once you redo the stairway and lattice, it will look better.
Maybe you can ask your neighbor if they will allow some modification on their portion like some of these show
some new gravel, borders on the driveway, some palms or other natural plantings will help
4 months agolast modified: 4 months agoI don't think the white is too much...the various fencing, trells, etc. all seem to merge. Color draws the eye.
I don't mind the gravel, it defines the space and seems coastal like a pebbled beach. Plant some beach grasses along the fence and Pink Muhly grass in barrels to fit the theme. Define the property line with perennials.K thanked tracefloydRelated Professionals

IMO the fence is all wrong for the house it sticks out like a sore thumb. A much simpler fence maybe something more modern like this style but in gray Then big pots filled to overflowing with colorful flowers maybe even on top of the fence with planters

Thank you for the response. You could go in any direction with paint color schemes. Here is more neutral.
Now I have just seen the photo of the beige house next door. I think color could help your house stand out from the beige ones around it. It's a cottage in a beach town, I would have some fun.If you give me ideas, I will try to render it for you.
