I think you need sconces that projects out further from the wall, like the photos above.

You'll likely use LED light bulbs for these fixtures. If you select a 60 watt equivalent it will only use 9.6 watts.

If you select a 100 watt equivalent it will only use 13.5 watts.

You'll have plenty of light, but I agree you shouild select a fixture that extends further out from the wall.

Sconces can make shadows. I have two small recessed lights over my sink.

So far we haven't done that in any of our designs. Since sconces would be above the sink would they need to be waterproof fixtures?

Was curious. So, did a quick internet search and am consistently getting that these fixtures should be rated for damp and wet locations.

A big factor for lighting over a sink is the depth of the lighting. The ones you pictured are not going to throw the light onto the center of your sink area but rather the back 1/3 towards the wall. When choosing a sconce or pendent it should be min centered over the counter/sink or towards the front edge of counter. So generally 12"-18". Choosing one with an articulating arm helps because you can move the light to the best or optimal light position. Or hanging a pendent will give you optimal lighting.

Rare is the light that isn't damp rated anymore but you bring up a good point. Also during inspection some will check to make sure the light is 36" from a water source. The same thing goes for islands with a sink and any lighting places above the island.

IMO not kitchen lighting more bath. I think the ones Beverly shows would be abetter choice and I agree LED 4000K bulbs 100watt equivalent for sure .

Truthfully, I'm not loving sconces over the sink windows.

But if you have cabinets on the side of the windows, I'd like the sconces on the side of the cabinets. Since the light would come from two sides, it seems they'd work well.

BUT -- for my money -- I'd rather have hanging pendants. Obviously, I don't know your space, but I'd always opt for two lights for best lighting.
