1963 brick ranch exterior

last month

Any suggestions on what to do with the garage door color/style as well as the surrounding vertical siding on each side of it? We like and will keep the brick. Thanks!

What color is your roof? Looks gray ? , but colors on monitors can be misleading.

I'd sample a green for the garage door and siding, all one color, not contrasting trim

I thonk look at how that green accents the brick and go with a green not as vibrant ans the grass but red rick and green are a great combo. This my fave for the green. As for the style of the house a MCM front door and also for the garage. Then I would work on the landscaping and this is one of my fave inspirations for that. You could also do gray for the siding

    thank you for the feedback!

Love the brick and a gray/green could be nice with it. Do consider a garage door with windows. The garage is prominent, and it would help break up the ”wall.”

@Helen Fetty ….. since your roof is gray I would consider SW Evergreen Fog.. And yes, if replacing garage door, windows, no muntins or whatever they’re called.

BTW…. If you want to test the garage door window look you can buy magnetic faux windows at HD , Wayfair, etc.

I love this house and with your feedback have been thinking about it more.

If you go with real wood, use semi-transparent Stain and Sealer in one, water based. I have used it with two outdoor projects and it gives such a nice finish and depth...esp. up close. More like furniture and less like fencing.

My intent was to bring the brick color to the garage and immediately thought of authentic Redwood siding with redwood stain. Possibly even board and batten.

Alternatively, sanding down the current siding to raw wood and staining Redwood or Red Cedar is a good choice.

Or go with re-painting and use a reddish brown paint. Not to match the brick but to complement it.

Warm wood-tone reddish brown paint from Sherwin Williams as an example.

Here I pasted a patch of Red Cent paint from the above photo. The garage door is painted Repose Gray

You could add garage door windows in similar proportions as the front door sidelight...also echoed in the MCM chimney. Modern light fixtures. Clad the porch post so it's a 6x6.

Earthen Jug is very nice...not pink:

We were thinking those windows on the garage door. I'm struggling with the gray door. What about SW Iron Ore...a soft black. Thank you very much for the time and energy you have given our project.

    My pleasure.

Iron Ore...fantastic idea. Here it is.

I know, right? I love that you can transform a house with paint and accessories.

I use a combo of Gemini Images and Google Drawings.

My first rendering I used Gemini, you can see it fixed the flag and the exposure and it chose the wood and garage door color based on my prompt. The garage door is 3D.

Then I do fix ups in Drawings, you can see were I cut and pasted screen shots and then sketched in shapes and colored them. All of the lastest rendering is sketched in Drawings..

Will suggest that if you replace your garage door that the new one have lites (windows) in it. A windowless garage door (especially a large one like you have) presents such a flat expanse. Windows break up that expanse and provide depth.

I grew up in California and Mid-Century ranchers with windowless double garage doors is normal. To me, the eye goes to the house.

It's so hard to tell on a screen what will work but here is a nice brown in two shades.
