This is the exact modular sofa. These sofas were very popular in the early 70s and were imported from European manufacturers. Then when West Elm first opened they had a line of sofas and beds that were low to the ground.

Gray/beige furniture in a gray cement room looks Restoration Hardware to me. They used to put out huge tomes of the most dreary interiors imaginable. All gushing about how "authentic" their stuff was. As in gushing about the authenticity of a Bourbon St, New Orleans wrought iron balcony, to sell their lamp with some similar wrought iron, as if the authenticity would rub off on their mass produced lamp.

I like brutalism, and I like the idea of a sofa like this in the space, but brutalism generally requires colorful textiles in my opinion to be a comfortable residential space.

And brutalist related furniture was often colorful or textural --some of these Evans pieces had brighter enameling, they were not all oatmeal colored things.

This type of brutalism is popular in South America, I have seen a number of Brazilian houses featured in design magazines. So they probably stay cooler in warmer climates. There was a brutalist building on my college campus but it was kind of passive solar with regard to the window placement so I think that helped warm it up, physically, and psychologically because it got a lot of light pretty deep into the interiors. But brutalist buildings all have a similar kind of dank smell in stairways and such (at least commercial buildings)
