Paul Williams and his partner wrote this song. I always appreciate original versions, they often shine light into what the composers were thinking about in ways that cover versions don't.

Williams wrote many beautiful and iconic songs and perhaps because of his quirky personality, he didn't seem to receive as much praise and recognition as he deserved.

No need to think beyond Rainbow Connection for a another great example. Similarly written by Williams and a partner, not by Kermit as many believe.
