ceiling fan help

I would like to add ceiling fans on either side of the chandelier, but would truly appreciate suggestions as to style.

2 fans double the strobing of the light and what do you hope to accomplishe since those slopes are very steep.

That's probably a bad idea, as if the fans are too high up, they won't be very effective and if they are dangling too far down, they will look funny and possibly spin. I'd consider fans on the wall above you sliders. Or just floor fans.

How far is the base of that chandelier from the floor? To get a cooling benefit from the fans, the fans should probably be 8-12’ from the floor. How will that look with the chandelier and upper window?

I don’t like fans above eating areas as they can blow around dust, etc.

    Strobing would be undesirable.

the fixture is very dramatic and would look even more so if it was lowered to between the upper window and the bank of windows.

Is it hanging in the center of the room or closer to the window wall, I can't see the down rod mounted.

Is the ceiling flat this side of the Beam? How about a photo from the window wall?

For a standard 8-foot ceiling in an open area, the bottom of the chandelier should hang exactly 7 feet above the floor. For every additional foot of ceiling height, raise the fixture by 3 inches.

I don't think the chandelier is in the correct location. It's hung too high

I think the chandelier should be closer to being centered in the arched window.

While I love ceiling fans, strobing light effects are disturbing. Is there a special reason you need the fans?

Is your goal to just move air in the room? When you say "on either side of the chandelier" how far from it do you mean?

Something very low profile in white that almost disappears might work like a Minka Aire Roto but without knowing the actual size of the space, it might not come in a size that's appropriate. Visual Comfort has a lot of elegant very efficient fans and they often run sales.

IMO you need to go with a fan that has clean lines as there is a lot going on up there visually. Wood could work too but hard to tell without knowing where it's going to be placed.

When people comment about chandelier height, you all forget the WIRE is Cut, the extra chain is gone, you cannot just splice in more here. So that being said, the fan would need to hang lower in the room than the chandelier. I dont think its a good option aesthetically.

You would get more work out of wall fan or nice floor fans. Also aside from strobing you could cause swaying with the chandelier.

Agree i would not try to solve this from the ceiling - is the HVAC properly sized for the home?

I just reread the original post. So is there one or two chandelier? If you want to add 2 ceiling fans where do you plan to supply the electrical supply. I guess because we don't see the whole room it's not very easy to advise you about how or where to place the fans.

Since I am the one who recommended to lower the chandelier, I'll just say that you never know how much wire might be stored in the canopy. In addition, electricians can always rewire a chandelier if required.

Also, you can also consider wall mounted fans for this room.

Do you plan to use two of the recessed can locations to install the ceiling fans?

Or installed the fans on a beam like the other fans?

I would put one on each side of the light fixture on the beam centered over each space below, Is that the kitchen on the right and living room to the left?

Yes, the strobing will be an issue WHEN the light is on.

Another idea is to get a consultation with a top rated HVAC person/company.

Look for one that has experience with The Unico System

    https://unicosystem.com/

I saw this system being installed in several homes years ago when watching This Old House. The small size of the vents/registers makes them ideal for remodeling projects were space might be an issue in existing walls and ceilings.

If lights shine through the fan blades, shadows will swirl around the room when the fans are on. Whether you turn on the chandelier or recessed lights, you'll have this problem. If you keep those lights off, then ceiling fans can be used. Optimal height for a ceiling fan is 9' so you'd have long downrods.

Maybe wall fans as suggested above would be good idea. Home Depot has lots.

again thanks for all the GREAT advice - it gives us a lot to chew on and i think using some of the recessed can lights for power is genius!
