My vote is one color/siding - we almost never regret simplicity

#4, with consideration given to a softer color on the shutters.

The shutters look harshly black. Is the roof black-ish or gray-ish? Maybe the shutters should be a deep charcoal instead. Or even no shutters at all. Your house is interesting enough without them.

Spend the money you save by not buying shingle siding on a wider and grander brick sidewalk. (Besides, it’s usually not a good idea to add a fancy finish like shingle siding on only one side of the house. It looks like that’s all you can afford.)

Honestly, not a fan of any, based on OC Driftwood shingles (a roof is a big factor) + the lower brick color + potentially adding more visual separation.

Envision the house in its entirety and consider more harmony.

Computer screens have a tendancy to not accurately represent colors as they appear in real life. Never select colors from a computer screen.

Survey the colors of the nearby houses and select a color that goes with those colors, in real life.

#4 but possibly no shutters or shutters in a lighter color. Agree with littlebug, spend the $ saved elsewhere. Not a fan of adding the NuCedar.

Lol rosiembog ….. yes, one color, the house has so many angles ( esp the roof ) I think adding anything else just clutters the look.

I agree that the one color looks best in this case. I love the shutters! They're obviously hinged and the appropriate size for the windows.

I truly like the first one - but could EASILY say do it all in that color with the following:

• Lower the brick to porch height - it feels like foundation then.
• Assuming those shutters are a deep forest green? can't tell if they are that or just weirdly rendered black. The green does such a nice job with the surrounding greenery - I too thnk BLACK is too harsh for your home shape
• And if you can - soften the trim just a fuzz - to be 2-3 shades lighter than the base home.

@just_janni thanks for your thoughtful comments. We will plan to take the brick down to porch height since we have to remove a bunch of it anyway (when the stoop and stairs move to be centered to the new entrance). Yep, the shutters are (supposed to be) Benjamin Moore Black Forest Green. We can probably find a slightly lighter shade. Will look into how expensive it would be to change the shade of the trim!
