This incredibly unique and beautiful rose is ‘Easy on the Eyes’ by breeder Tom Carruth (Weeks), who now directs the Huntington. I ordered it from Heirloom Roses after Tom Carruth himself recommended growing it. I had reached out to him a while back, never having met him and feeling nervous like I was approaching a rock star for an autograph, to ask if he could find a way to help support the Burlington Roses well project Go Fund Me. He was already doing so, of course, but he responded with the loveliest note and recommended trying ’Easy on the Eyes’ after I shared how much I admire his purple creations like ’Midnight Blue’ and ’Ebb Tide.’ If any of you are considering another lavender-mauve-purple rose for a pot or bed, I HIGHLY recommend ’Easy on the Eyes! It is more than easy on the eyes, it is a graceful shrub, it is healthy in my PNW garden and it blooms and blooms! I encourage you to check it out on HMF.
