Are you mixing new cabinets in with your existing black and white cabinets? Are all these cabinets near each other? If so, I think a third color would be too much. Posting pictures would help, as would more information (as in, what's there now, are you trying to match, etc.)

What color is the floor?

I am adding upper and lower cabinets to area about 10 feet away. the floor is a dark oak, kind of an orangey brown. That was here whn we purchased the house.. we are painting the whole first floor SW Natural Linen.

I agree pick one color or the other . That is as good as we can do with no pics of the space .

if you want to know "is it okay to pick a different color for a different section?" my answer would be enthusiastically YES. what do you favour? a green / or a blue? it s a matter of intensity and tone in the space w the lighting etc. can you put some paint sample cards from the paint store on the wall there? i usually bring home 20 plus when a new activity and uncertain. then remove the ones you dont like.

Pick one or the other of what you already have. Which one? Who knows. We need pics and description of what you're planning to help with that question.
