It may be a lone DF but only due to its unusual siting plunked down in the middle of a cemetary. DF's are as common as mud in WA state - I can count several dozen just from my back deck!! I am also dubious about its location. The topography indicates the east side of the Cascade mountains, not in the rain shadow of the coastal Olympic mountains. Nothing quite so flat in that vicinity.

Not really. Maybe a few isolated clusters but the eastern part of the state is not very wooded compared to the western portion so not heavily treed at all. Pseudotsuga menziesii is pretty much focused on the western side of the Cascades.

In Wyoming I find douglas firs to be quite drought tolerant

Is it just me or does the tree in its loneliness have equally strong double leaders? It is in any case a beautiful tree!

As I'm always pointing out about double leaders, they are more of a problem in climates with heavy, wet snow OR intense microburst type thunderstorms. I've seen split leadered trees - even on my 3 acre property - destroy themselves in either situation. So that may not be as much a problem for this one in an intermountain west climate.

In fact, it was half a split leadered Juniperus virginiana falling onto my driveway, blocking it, that prompted me to learn how to use a chainsaw myself! Didn't want to wait for someone to come out. That was due to a wet snowfall, with a bit of ice mixed in for good measure and stickiness!
