Maybe just do the laundry room first and get it done then see if that is a great choice. Sometimes less is more when it comes to even a fave color, I think the accent pillows and mabe a blue throw might do the trick .

@lalagirl. You are funny!! I don’t mind opinions for sure. You can’t post on here and get hurt feelings, that is for sure. I hear what you are saying. But I really do love the color doors. I feel like it gives all the white some life. I am going to search for pillows, fabrics and wallpaper. Hopefully I can post an update in the coming months.

Re: white vs. colored doors

Maybe you would want to do this, maybe not. Would be easier than painting and materials are probably on hand.

Throw a white tablecloth or sheet over a door, leave it for a while, see how it feels. This is similar to what @Norwood Architects suggested.

I could be a tad biased. Our house has walls, ceilings, doors, and trim in white eggshell. We still love it after 18 years.

White is a safe and reasonable choice, my interior doors are same white as walls, but different sheen, however, the interior side of my exterior doors are navy. (As are my kitchen cabinets, so it does relate to other areas of the house.). I am totally happy with this. I wouldn't want all of my doors navy though-but that is just my feeling about it. Sometimes you just want a little color. And as James Taylor would sing, "Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose."

I think there are a ton of great ideas from multiple sources being generated in this thread! Good to try it out in the laundry room as Patricia Colwell suggested, and then you can decide if you really do want to take it further with the doors, or if that (and throw pillows/decor) satisfies the color urge. But painting one side of a door is pretty easy to undo. Just start with a pint of the blue, and a pint of the white that matches trim/wall color. Paint the laundry room door blue, the one in the kitchen white. See where you go from there. It's not a huge investment of time or money to do one side of each and sit back and see how it feels. Then you will know what direction to go. You don't have to do all the doors in your house one or the other. Perhaps one blue door will be enough for you, perhaps not.

White/blue sheet is definitely easier and might work, to help you make decision, too. I am not convinced that it would work for me. And that is just a me thing-but I am willing to own my mistakes, as well as make them!

Also I love the green built ins with the blue grasscloth that Design Interior South posted. However, a silly thing, probably from AI is there are so many blue and white urns....How many dead relatives do you really want to keep on your shelves-;)

Honestly when I posted this I did not expect this much activity!! I love this app. It has blessed me many times. I think I’m going to go for it. Add it elsewhere in pillows and wallpaper. Then take it from there. I hope it works.

This made me laugh. Defnitley and AI move. That said I have never known anyone to house their dead relatives in chinoiserie jars LOL! Historically they were used to import spices in which started in the 200's! . Could you imagine someone opening one up only to find ashes and not the spice they thought they were buying? EEK!

But considering Peppercorn for the color drenched for the media room and all the doors. So not continuing the blue and green upstairs. Oh Jan, I love your story. It is nice to laugh, despite all the grief, the laughter is a gift. Care giving as well as being the executrix (with siblings) is a challenge for sure! My parents put a nice clause in the will, which went something like, if you contest this will, you will get nothing, though the language was in legal terms! So smart, and definitely made my job easier, though not easy! Luckily for me, my Dad was also meticulous with his records. So that, too, made it much easier, I know there are many who have no organization what so ever, and cannot imagine dealing with that!!!

As far as the jars, I never knew they were spice jars, I mean that is a whole lot of spice! I always thought they look like urns. Live and learn.

When you redid my family room there’s a wall with the sunburst mirror to the left. Is that blue grass cloth on it? That is an alcove into my bedroom. Very very small area. (If I had a better builder I would’ve made that bigger). What if I just paint that the Parma Gray like the door that’s to its right?

AJ, AI threw that blue grasscloth in there. If you like that alcove the color you certainly can paint it but it was never my intention.

Painters starting today.should I paint trim around the door or not?

First just saw the art work question and it looks great!

Second I usually leave the trim as is because if you paint the trim then that runs into baseboards and the cut off , to me, if you don't continue the paint color doesnt look as intentional. If it were me I would ask them to paint one door (not trim) and see how you feel about it.

Yes I agree. That is my plan start with one door. I already found some pillows I like and a plaid too with some blue like you showed me. Going to look for a small blue lamp for the kitchen as well as some drapes in the guest room. That’s outside the kitchen. I’ve decided if I like the blue I will paint my powder bath and pantry plus wallpaper the ceilings in a blue and green wallpaper. Let’s pray it all works!

The painter ended up color matching a SW because he has a great discount there and I wanted Emerald enamel urethane throughout my house all walls trim ceilings and doors. I needed the good discount 😊

Designer Interior South. Now that the painters are finished I’m rehanging this paintings over the chest. As you can see the two middle ones are different heights. How do I hang these to add that top one?
Do I make their bottoms line up like I have them or their tops to line up?

I had the painters to fill all those holes except the large painting so I can rework them if I need to
