What a pain! Literally and figuratively. I have no advice other than what I'm sure you've already thought of ie asking friends, neighbours or family to help. Or I wonder if the garden centre where you bought them could help? Either for a fee or for good publicity? Can you spin a good sob story? Hope you mend fast.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I wish you a speedy recovery, hopefully without too much pain.

Good ideas above to try to enlist some help. Can you return them to the garden center? If you're able to drive there, or someone else can drive you, they may take them back. My local nursery has a 7-day return policy on annuals (unplanted and in original condition/containers, of course).

I agree. Ask the nursery if they have anyone who would like to plant on the side or if they would take back.

You may need to ask about someone to help with extra watering and weeding.

Ouch. No fun at all. Perhaps a teenager in your neighborhood would like to earn a few bucks and learn about gardening at the same time. :-)

Oh no Marie! I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope you are feeling better and heal quickly. Some good ideas above. How about contacting a local garden club? Perhaps one of their members can come out for an afternoon to help you out. Or maybe some kind of local community service organization? A neighbor?

I have a garden helper I vebeen in touch with.

and I have a 6 foot long elevated cedar planter which will help a lot if DH gets it assembled in the next few days. The idea of broadening my search for help is good to remember. I am sure i cannot haul hoses so maybe a kind person will volunteer to stand over the hostas with a hose for a little while.

Haul hoses? Heck i can hardly get in or out of bed!

So frustrating I know Marie. But be very careful in not attempting to do too much too soon.

I lecture myself a lot on that, rouge. one thing that is discouraging is that after a winter of inactivity ( and mild depression) I was just getting strong again from swimming. . At least I’m starting healing with some strengrh /muscle and not with a the gelatinous body I had in April, There will be many things i just turn a blind eye to.

btw, i have 3 Bobo about to bloom. When i bought them 3 years ago they were robust and laden with buds. It has taken 3 years for them to recover from rabbit damage inflicted their first winter.

You might recall how I used to sing the praises of BOBO for many years as I had a border of probably 6 or 7 of them. But I no longer have any as slowly but surely they died back and last year I removed the last two.

I have rabbits eat down many of our hydrangeas in the winter. It is amazing to me how these paniculatas and the like regrow just fine again, all from the ground up. And so far I havent experienced rabbis eating the buds...fingers crossed.

I remember well you and others loving BoBos. which was why I bought these ( on sale)

I hope mine have a different trajectory. If not i will rip them up and trash them…..lifes too short

I loved them for close to a decade. I posted many pictures of my BOBO border over the years but for some reason, one by one they 'declined' in health.

(I replaced this same border last September with alternating "Tiny Quick Fire" Hydrangea and "Candy Corn" Spirea)

Sorry to hear this Marie. I hope you recover quickly. At 67 I have to be extra careful these days. Last year I fell down 2 flights of stairs. Not at the same time though.

2 flights and you might well have been unable to write to us at all, ever. I dont have sterioscopic vision and am very cautious on stairs. My brain knows they go ”up or down” but my eyes say they are flat.

After reading about your all your plants for years and your phenomenal memory for their (Latin) names I thought you were 15 years younger. But that’s part of the fun of GW- who cares how old we are as long we are talking about growing stuff!
