I think you can just post pics here and the group will decide correctly if it’s RRD. Many of us have seen an unfathomable number of examples of RRD over too many years, and have become reluctant RRD identification experts, I’m sorry to say!

This was my positive Gertrude Jekyll. Not even really hyper thorny for Gertrude Jekyll. Complicated by the fact it had leaf hopper damage already. I've always sort of ignored the early spring leaf hoppers/spittle bugs - but now I don't know if every crinkled leaf out there is the beginning of RRD or leaf hopper damage. It's frustrating.

I posted it in a couple groups and most said it wasn't that supicious or it wasn't RRD. The leaves of the other similar looking cane grew out normally. That's why I'm so concerned, another week of growth and I might not have sent this in.

Right now, I have a few others with some crinkled leaves and I have a couple green buds that are a bit more frilly than others- but I have a lot of moss heritage roses and that's really throwing me off.

In truth, I probably would have flagged that as RRD not just on the basis of the color but the softness of the thorns. They look very rubbery to me. Another week this growth would only have looked worse I'm sure. I do pull mine off at the bottom and I've saved a couple that way but that's when I just see a bit of damage at the top. I admit though, it is sometimes hard to figure out.
