Happy Fourth of July, Jackie!

Spectacular, Jackie! Truly inspirational! What a harmonious color combination. Did you plant the group purposely for the patriotic colors?

On a side note....

I am growing True Bloom True Spirit (Lim, 2022), the new Ping Lim rose. Its second year is unbelievable. The blooms are 4.5", and have 50 petals that are rich, deep red (just like its mama), both claims confirmed by me for sure. It's reported to be a 5' tall bush. I bet in a good climate it will meet and exceed 5'. Foliage is pristine so far, none of the dreaded black spot.

What's interresting about True Spirit is it's pedigree:

My Girl (shrub,Lim,2006), deep pink red shading 2.5" cupped bloom X Crimson Glory (Kordes,HT, 1935)

I find it remarkable that as much beloved Crimson Glory has been and still is, it's a heavy duty black spotter in these parts, that its direct offspring, True Spirit, is black spot free!

Climbing versions of Crimson Glory were popping up in different gardens after its intro. In 1946, at the beginning of WW II, Jackson & Perkins introduced Climbing Crimson Glory. 12' canes are its signature as a climber.

What a remarkable rose your Climbing Crimson Glory is, Jackie. I'm sure it's much cherished.

Happy 'Fourth of July'

Moses - no, like almost all of the nice combinations roses make in my garden, I did NOT plan this one. I did put the clematis where I was hoping it would climb up Colonial White, but then Cl Crimson Glory decided to live up to its name and jumped off the top of the rose tutuer I had put for it to grow on, and went over to join them. I found Cl Crimson Glory growing 15 feet up a tree in the abandoned garden of an old cottage 3 blocks from my house which was about to be torn down.

Thank you, susan9santabarbara - I love it too. I love nice combinations of roses & flowers, etc. - my garden arranges them itself, and it is so fun to suddenly see one. (If I tried to plan one, I am sure the garden would do something different.
