White Kitchen Countertop Advice

I am going with white gloss upper cabinets (a dark metallic gray gloss on the lower) and want a pure white countertop.

My petite cuisine is west facing and gets a lot of direct sunlight. I use window shades in the summer and keep the shades up in winter. Still lots of direct and indirect sunlight.

Which product do you recommend? Porcelain? Corian? Something else? I greatly appreciate any feedback.

if thats the extent of everything for your space so far, I would go look at some granite . the right stone in there would be great in my opinion.

If you want a pure white countertop that won't stain, you can't beat Corian.

I agree with white Corian, but there are other options. You can get white Thassos marble or something called "Nanoglass." It's a white glass product impervious to staining or etching.

"Architectural Stone & SurfacesAs an engineered stone, nanoglass (often referred to as nano crystallized glass or nano white) is a non-porous blend of natural materials and glass powders subjected to extreme heat.

    • Benefits: It features a pure, uniform white finish. Because it is non-porous, it is completely stainproof, absorbs zero water, and resists both acid and alkali.
    • Applications: Widely used in luxury kitchens and bathrooms for countertops, vanities, and wall or floor tiling."

I used it as a vanity counter top in a client's bathroom, and as a kitchen counter top.

    Here's the bathroom:

A white granite or marble or check out Abet Laminati for a really cool choice. This is it in a kitchen with high gloss dark gray cabinets. This had layers of black and aluminum but comes all white . It is a very cool choice and a whole lot better than quartz . Can be worked with wood tools so no big fabricating cost .Used in labs and is self supoorting for quite a large span. I had it in my last house too takes hot pots , greae marks just disappear it is truly awesome and afforadable . I could not get all the choices in Canada but the US no problem

Thank you so much, everyone. My mom had Corian in her kitchen. Loved the look. I’ll check out all the suggestions. Again, greatly appreciated. I’ll keep the thread posted.

I love Corian! Especially the one with the hint of sparkle too.

While Corian isn’t trendy right now, I think it’s timeless and so easy!

Corian is great for a solid white....but not much more to do quartz. Get quotes on both.

Also do you like SHINY? or more MATTE? Shiny go with quartz. Matte go with Corian.

Here was a makeover kitchen. Homeowner kept base cabinets and put in new KraftMaid upper wall cabinets. She did a solid white quartz. Click the MORE INFO link to see more pics and the BEFORE pics. Great transformation! She did this makeover until she could afford to redo the whole kitchen...but she loved it so much, she said it's staying...and she saved herself $30K

Corian is simply a very very soft, sheen. Not glossy...soft. With all the attributes previously noted , including invisible, color match seams.
