And more first blooms

I found a few first blooms today and yesterday. I have a couple daylilies that are done…..another weird season. I’m not complaining. I am very pleased with this season compared to the last two. Over all…..more blooms! I did remove four more poor performers yesterday, still have two on the list for late on the season.

Forest God had ffo today, love this one

Spotted Fever had FFE today.

Jurys Out just started. Magnificent branching and buds again.

FFO for Witch King of Angmar yesterday.

Coral Majority started two days ago. This daylily and a few others are benefitting from removal of a dead Rose of Sharon.

Sailor Sky started blooming a few days ago……two weeks early.

I added this new perenial, a false sunflower ”Bleeding Heart” The blooms open bright orange and turn yellow as they age. I love the dark green foliage with purpleish stems and veining.

Love the false sunflower!! Interesting foliage. The color on Sailor Sky and Coral Majority is such a pretty shade. Forest God is a favorite here too! Curious about the plants you evicted from your garden-were these some that had performed in the past but went downhill or some that never performed well or a combination?

The daylilies I removed were never great performers. After checking my list I found a few that just disappeared and had never bloomed. I have two more on my list to remove later in the season. On my fall list is Yellow Monkey….I dont like its sprawling habit. Crystaline Entity is leaving. It has shrunk the last two seasons with few buds. This year the foliage is under a foot tall with a few tiny blooms. I cant get at it now without damaging the bloomers around it.

Forest Gold is beautiful. I love the combination of the gold and green throat. Witch King of Angmar is looking good too. The false sunflower is beautiful.

I like very much the Forest God pic. I saw it so often here on the forum that I added it this spring. Interesting perennial you got. I'll have to look it up You know how I like adding other perennials in my garden.

Forest God always appeals to me, while the color of Witch King looks great backed by that chartreuse hosta. Coral Majority and Sailor Sky have similar color. Which one do you like better? I like how the false sunflower blooms change color as they age.

Debra, no contest for me, Sailor Sky it is , the color is brighter. It is a wonderful daylily.…..Good substance, never a blemished bloom, good bud count here, good increase, totally reliable.

Julia, I love the sunflower already. I added two about two weeks ago and I see growth already. I know you will love it.
