Show from the front. They look awful low which if this is the placment decided on, makes drilling thru the box neccessary. Is the one drawer front split?

Why is the drawer box so small compared to the drawer front?

Can't take advantage of the full volume of the drawer as larger things might fall out.

The screw for the knob goes through the drawer face and the drawer box for maximum strength of the pulling forces on the drawer knob.

OK, that makes more sense. however. the exposed screws w/the damaged wood?? that's completely avoidable. huge error on his part for not properly measuring before drilling. (he drilled first and then discovered the issue w/the hidden drawer. )

so, up to you what you want to do. it's poor work and doesn't deserve a full price.

either diff handles should have been used, (and should have, this is a more modern vanity so finger tab pulls should have been chosen) or he should have measured first, drilled last.

(why not just make a deeper drawer? hidden drawers like that are odd.)

You will find that people are evenly split on the hate/love of a drawer within a drawer.

I'm in the hate camp! Why open 2 drawers when you could have just opened one. Same reason why I hate roll-outs in a kitchen cabinet instead of just having drawers.

You are not wrong on the love /hate camp. I just find that in a bathroom there are more little things and so it’s nice to have a smaller space for them.
I have not talked to him about it as we were waiting for the shower to be done before I went in and cleaned which is when I discovered the issue. Also the plastic still being on the inside of the drawer and no way to get it completely off without taking off the front panel and the doors have the same issue I think is just sloppy. This is not an inexpensive contractor and he is in the process of finishing a 2000 square foot basement. Is it unreasonable to make him pay to reorder the drawers and fronts for these two cabinets?

The drawing above is helpful. The center pulls are fine because they do not have an inner drawer. He needed to have the left and right drawer pull clear the inner frame which is about an 1/8 of an inch. Visually the right drawer pull is lower than the left and the middle which is why the screws went through more of that inner frame. Thank you

To think this is acceptable is , well, not acceptable. The plastic is just lazy. The drilling through the top portion of the drawer box is just ridiculous. That drawer box needs to be replaced. Also why is your hardware placed in different locations on all your drawers? You have it centered on the drawers on the right which are smaller so it could be acceptable for them to be different than the larger deeper drawers but then you have the pulls at the top of one set of larger drawers and then centered on the other set. Pick one and stick to it. If they cant compltely drill through the entire drawer box for center placement then all your pulls should be placed at the top. . Or for a cleaner look Tab pulls.

The picture with the pulls at the top of the middle drawers was a mock up from PPF above on how he does the pulls. Mine are centered (somewhat) on each drawer front.

You need to decide if this is the hill to die on. The dollars will take care of themselves somewhere on his end if you "make" he reorder. I agree with PPF, start with allowing him to propose a fix. If he is a quality oriented GC he would most likely agree with you and tale care of it. If not you will see how he really feels.

I am going to be in the "let it go" camp. The front view has them all lined up nicely - vertical. Level. Even. There certainly could have been some variation in the cabinet front attachment leading to the tops of the lower drawer getting drilled.

99% of the time you see your bath from the front.

What's the fix? New drawer fronts? New box fronts? Worry about color matching in different paint lots? Worry about attching the new drawer fronts in order to get them level on the boxes? Would this be done in the field vs by the cabinet maker? There are so many places that the fix could go wrong.

Unless you want to change the handle location per PPF's layout - I would let it be.

Is it acceptable? it's certainly not ideal, but the finished side sure does look perfect.

(and get the plastic peeled off - that was just lazy - as stated - but at least that's an easy fix)
