Smokey skies and blooms

We have smoke from Canadian fires today and for the next few days. The air here was rated poor at 189 today. Chicago air was worse 470. Worst air quality there ever recorded. The only good thing was overcast skies made photo taking better. The heat and humidity continue.

My Goldner seedling started yesterday. I have a small clump today. This is a great late daylily.


Dances with Giraffes had a photo friendly small clump today. So tall it is hard to get a good photo.


How High the Moon, is well budded this season.


Scandinavia has put on a good show.


Witch’s Stick had first bloom yesterday a triple today, one bloom is shy.


Honey Crunch Cupcake first bloom today. it is getting established.


Late to the Party first blooms. This first scape is really short, the rest are much taller.

    Yes, the smoke is supposed to reduce the sun's glare, but we haven't had it as severely as you. Today was the worst day of the week; at least, I am hoping that the next two days are better. My shirt was soaked just from being at the dog park. How High the Moon is looking good.

      Sorry to hear about the smoke for everyone affected. Makes it difficult to breath. Oklahoma usually has many fires during the summer months, and it is not fun to see that rust colored air moving in.......Boy, you have so many nice ones today. Honey Crunch Cupcake is sure in my color range. Love seeing it. I also like How High The Moon with its full petals. How white is it compared to Sunday Gloves?.........Finally I like the vivid color on Late To The Party. I'm hope it will straighten up for you and you will post more of it.............Maryl

      Late to the Party is such a pretty color. Dances With Giraffes is impressive and Scandinavia is indeed putting on a show. Hope your air quality improves soon. Nothing to compare to your situation but I live next door to a national forest containing thousands of acres. The forest service does a control burn every year which puts smoke and haze into the air for days-the highways even have the smoke caution signs up during that time. Breathing is not pleasant then so I cannot even imagine your air quality.

      Nice group of pics. I do like How High the Moon and Late to the Party. I can see them as good ones to pair together even with the height differences. Yes, the smoke issue is here and today is a health alert day with us in the purple zone.

      That Canadian smoke is such a health hazard! It's on the far north side of Indy now and will likely be covering my far southside area by tonight. Your Goldner seedling is so pretty in that clump! Late to the Party makes an attractive pair, and I always like your How High the Moon.

      Maryl, How High The Moon is pure white. It is also tall.

      Air quality is over 500 this morning. It looks like fog today. Wind from the south is supposed move in and clear the air somewhat this afternoon. My hubbie is wearing a mask today when he goes out with our dogs, I will also probably wear one.

      Late to the Party is a wonderful color!! My favorite of the bunch. The Goldner seedling is second. The smoke is not reaching KY this time around.
