Wainscoting in bathroom

We are renovating a 1946 house in north Texas. For this small bathroom, what’s your thoughts on wood wainscoting? Is that a practical choice behind a console sink, under the window and wrapping to the edge of the tub/shower? I see photos of wainscoting in bathrooms but I’m not sure how the longevity works versus the obvious choice of tile? Is wainscoting cheaper than tile?

The console sink that I have ordered does not have a built in backsplash. The photo is below as well as some inspo pics.

Would help to see your bathroom, but from my perspective I would not do real wood wainscotting in a bathroom. Probably not do any type wainscotting but that is just me, especially in a small bathroom.

Unless you live alone and never have guests, I would want a swing door into the hall bathroom.

Thank you for the thorough response. I see the wood wainscoting inspiration photos and it looks adorable. But tile seems more practical for the sink. I don’t see a good way to do wood on some areas and tile on others in this small bathroom with the layout that I have.
