I can't seem to find a counter top microwave that swings to the right.....hinges on the right hand side. Any suggestions?

I don't think any are made that way. I tried to find one too and ended up getting a model that opened under the door. Appliances are not made for left handed people, although you can get refrigerator doors switched but that's only for design purposes. they would not have done it otherwise.
I have a microwave drawer now and it's the best thing ever :)

I’ve never seen one. I just called my appliance supplier and they don’t know of any either. Maybe we should start a business :-)

I have also hunted for a right hand hinge - so far it doesn't seem to exist. Do not have space for MW below the counter - and current location in pantry area - the door opens the wrong way.

Pure Home....thank you! Will this works in the states? I presume I would need a converter and adaptor? Your thoughts would be hugely helpful!

    Turn it upside down. ;)

    Mousemaker,
Do you remember the brand of the microwave that opened on the bottom?
I think it was a White/Westinghouse...it's still in use but in a different location :)

I looked up microwaves to see if I could find my model...grrr :) I did find a model that apparently has hinges on the bottom, but that isn't what mine was. I can find out for sure, it's just at school.

Consult with an electician concerning whether the Teka will work in the US. Also see if you can find a Teka dealer in the US. You might need repairs sometime down the road. I'm willing to bet the one with the bottom hinge will make more sense.

duh. I meant to say that there is no button either..it opens by pulling up the bottom straight piece. I couldn't get one with a handle or a button because they're just WRONG :):)

NEFF series 3 microwave hinges on the right side. I think it is only sold in England and is rather pricey

The majority of people is right handed, so its always on the right... if you have model with controls on the top or the bottom, I think some make a reversible door.
If not you can flip it upside down and it will be on the right :-)

Thank you am investigating. If I had my wishes there would be a cube shape - drop door - controls at top which would fit between counter top and upper cabinets.

This one is discontinued, but I have it and it is spectacular as it opens on the left and the right. In fact, it is so rare to find one that I bought an extra one for when it dies and keep it in storage.

Lino, what is it? Love it!

guys, the original post is three years old!

hooray that somebody has now solved this problem, but it's not quite fair to act as though people were ignorant when such things weren't on the market.

where can I find lino412 's right hinged Micro ?

I have a Sears Kenmore that is an OTR model. It opens both left and right! They stopped making them. Don't know why, it's quite convenient. I'm about to swap mine out for a convection microwave.

I'm posting so I can follow. I have a space situation where a right hinged door would be ideal. So disappointing that they don't really exist.

    Same as Karen.

Home Depot is the only place online I have found that you can search for a left to right swing. There are a bunch of them.

There are ones on Home Depot, but when I try to order one they show as out of stock.

All the photos of "left to right swing" microwaves on Home Depot show photo of "right to left". Hmmm??

I made the same search on Home Depot just before reading this thread. It reminds me that an online store is no more intelligent than it is in brick and mortar (apologies to Home Depot :) What is truly ridiculous is that I am having the same difficulty finding a left-handed microwave as the person who originated posted in 2013! Usually appliance companies are all over ways to get people to replace products they already own. Has anyone had any success? I've considered the models with drop-down doors but have only found them in larger ovens and real estate in my kitchen is limited. I'd appreciate any suggestions. I know from past experience - many many experiences - that when I get frustrated sourcing a product I become obsessive and get lost for hours in the world wide web of possibilities.

We are in the same boat...I am left handed, but the issue is more that the corner we have allowed for the micro, only a right hinged door will work. So frustrating to not have that option. There has to be one out there!

We are looking in our remodel to find a door swings out of our prep area on left side. door opens left to right would work or swings out and over. Microwave over the range with convection is goal.

Kenmore was the only brand to make a left panel microwave, but they have discontinued it. However, I would just like to say, that the swing of a door is not Lefty or Righty. For example an entry door or an interior door swings one way when you go in, and the opposite when you go out. Which I know that no one has an issue with if they are lefty or righty. Now the convenience of having the door swing the other way so that it doesnt hit a cabinet or if its up next to a wall and cant fully open the door that way would be a nice option. Sounds like someone needs to start a Kickstarter. Be the first to give the option.

Hinge on right to open away from prep area. Bottom henge doesn't help. French door microwave could help.

I have a dual swing microwave made by Samsung.

IT OPENS FROM BOTH SIDES (LEFT & RIGHT).

The microwave that Lino above is referencing.

I honestly love that you can open it from both sides and I'm a righty.

I feel like this is something more companies should provide because depending

on where I am positioned in the kitchen I'll one side or the other. This isn't a right vs. left hand thing. It depends on from which side of the microwave I am positioned and there isn't one side

    that is favored.
