I really wish I liked the gold beige kind of thing but it just looks dingy to me 🤷‍♀️

I don't understand why it is so limiting for you. If you like that tone of brown, go with it and just work with the undertone in the rest of your scheme. One of my favorite warm browns is Alexandria Beige. I had it in our bedroom, last house. Warm browns work with many accent colors, so I question the comment that the undertone is difficult with which to work.

As for carpet, look into all the beautiful brown shades in Stanton.

Are you just looking for wall to wall carpet? I think I need to know why only this color at all. I like gray but not to the point that I do not use other colors

I'm confused; the colors you like are not the tones you want to use? Nothing exists in a tunnel, what are the other colors and tones in your space?

Paint colors that have brown but no pink undertone would IMO be considered GREIGE.

@Skippack Tile & Stone The issue im dealing with, is that I’m buying my first house and its very gray and white. So while working on a limited budget I want to start nudging the color palette in a warmer more grounded direction without choosing mismatched undertones or whatever because I cant afford to do it all at once or to redo it if I mess up Or paint myself into a corner so to speak.

Its a tricky situation, and I appreciate y’alls input.

I think that the floors have a purple undertone, am I wrong in that? Does rhat mean I should add more taupe/mushroom rather than my preferred pink- beige brown? I think for sure the floor limits my sofa color, gold tan for example would not work.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting Its not that I only want to use one color, I am just afraid of picking colors with clashing undertones, you know the story ”I painted my walls beige but now my floors look pink and the walls look green!” So I guess my question is if I go with a warm light brown that has pink undertones, what other neutrals/colors would complement it? I was considering a muted olive green wall behind my tv, would that make a pink-undertone wall look more pink or less? Sorry for the ramble :)

The photo you've shown is from the listing? Or the goal? The carpet you are referring to is it wall to wall or area rug? You'll have to provide more information to help you navigate between existing and what you want to accomplish.

@Skippack Tile & Stone This is the listing photo. First thing im going to do is paint the walls, but the eventual goal is to carpet that living room. I also need to get a new sectional as mine has the chaise on the wrong side. I guess I’m overwhelmed trying to think ahead to what colors I need to make everything so nothing clashes. I love darker warm neutrals, muted olive green and mushroom/chocolate milk brown. I wanted to know if there are any colors/undertones to avoid? Or that might really go well?

For now, I cant change rhe flooring, and for the life of me can’t decide what undertone it is, maybe purple? So what wall color can I choose that would be warm and grounded but not clash with the floor?

The floor looks good; not sure about WTW carpeting as an improvement. I don't see cool tones from the photo. Find an area rug if you want deeper tones. Pull darkest color from the current floor into the paint color and then go shopping for your couches.

If you make a plan of what you want to do, it is OK to do it in steps. Even if you stop in the middle of the plan while you are saving money, at least you are on the path to where you want to go. And if that stopping point has a "clash" of colors that you don't like, it's still just a stop along the way.

@Skippack Tile & Stone I just have young kids, so my thought was putting carpet in makes it easier for us to play on the ground, but maybe a soft enough rug would serve that purpose
