I have 2 pair of readers from Warby Parker in different shades of green - just looked at the hinges and although they are not as prominent as yours they have a 'decorative' metal pins for the hinges. I mix metals in jewelry all the time - I would not be bothered at all by those hinges with gold earrings.

You should mix it up a bit more!

I wear a mix of jewelry that is gold, white gold and diamonds. I have gotten lots of compliments on the mix of 3 bracelets I always wear. Try some earrings that are gold with white gold or gold with diamonds.

I love them and they suit your personality. They are kinda hip. (of course my assessment of hipness is probably not totally reliable given my own deficit)

Mtn , I think we are at the same level on the hipness-o- meter. I am trying to reach beyond my usual tortoise shell frames.

Maybe I am too matchy matchy when it comes to jewelry. Gold definitely goes better with my skin tone but mixing with silver would work.

Of course everything looks good with diamonds!

Until I read your latest comment, I saw your photo and thought "Tortoise shell frames would look good on her". I guess you think so too.

I think those frames look odd, bulky and clunky on you. If you want something hip, how about red or blue?

(I don't think the metal color matters a bit. It's not like you're trying to find upholstery to go with a wall color or vice versa)

I have the gift (curse) of noticing things that most people don't see. I wouldn't notice that your frames and jewelry did not match. If it would bother you every time you look in the mirror, I would pass but wouldn't worry if it doesn't bother you.

I think they look wonderful and the mixed metals does not bother me at all.

I am sorry to be the lone nay but I have similar coloring and the frame has too much silver for me. I do wear mixed metals but, like you, gold looks best with my skin. It would be too much silver for me by my face, my eyes and my hair. The shininess makes it even more so.

Maybe I am a hypocrite. I have worn these glasses below with a silver -- but the silver piece was small, textured and not shiny. Also, it wasnt next to my face.

I definitely think you should have fun with your glasses! I love that you are branching out-- but the color of the frames and metal do make a big difference to me.

Thanks, Funky. I have to say the silver stood out to me right away. The dark olive is good for my skin tone but I have reservations about the silver. Ill have to go back and try again.

These would be an extra pair, so maybe the silver is less concerning? IDK.

I never gave that a thought. They have a fun vibe, while the others are more sophisticated.

My frames are similar but all black and I do like them. If I were you , I would not get the green ones. Basically because of the silver temples. I rarely wear gold and because of that I would not select a frame with gold temples. It would bother me every time I put them on.

Do you think it will bother you or not? I do like the shape and color on you otherwise.

I think if the silver didn't wrap around to the front, it wouldn't bother me as much, but I probably would try to find a frame with gold or no metal at all. Not because of the mixed metals so much, but the fact that you think silver is less flattering for your coloring.

I like the mix it up advice....likely because I don't think twice about which rings I might wear together. Enjoy!

Love, love those olive glasses on you. I would not have even noticed you were wearing different metals had I not already read your dilemma. I might be a little concerned about the 2 being close together, but they look so darn good, and since they are an extra pair I would go for it. I am also a member of the stuck-on-tortoise reading glasses club.

I'm no help here about whether the silver is yea or nay - but I really like the different shape of the frames.

Metals are neutrals and all metals go with all metals. The days of matchy-matchy are over. You'll be lovely no matter what you choose!!

I got a pair with with tortoise shell frames and purple temples....the temple is usually covered by my hair....little of it shows. So any metal color....any color at all....is kind of hidden....like in your photo. Looks fine!

I'm with Oly. It's not that you're mixing metals (which is how I incorporate some gold with my standard silver), it's how you like a metal's color with your coloring. It's not something on your wrist or even around your neck that isn't close. I think frames bear thinking about because they're like eyeshadow colors. And we can all weigh in in favor of what we think is okay, but you're the one you have to please. Only if it gives you that "ah, this is right for me" feeling.

I like them on you. I also totally get wanting metals to match. Except in my weird mind, eyeglasses and rings are allowed to be different. Why? Who knows. 😄 If I wear gold earrings, then I also wear gold necklaces and bracelets. But my glasses and rings are chosen on their own and are often silver or platinum.

But I also agree with everyone who is saying they have to feel right to you.

Love the color and shape very much! I don't seem to gravitate to frames with metal prominently showing on the front so that is what would give me pause regardless of metal color. And I wouldn't hesitate to mix metals if that is your only concern. Can't wait to see what you decide!

I am with Annie as far as mixing metals - they are all neutrals and can be mixed easily (styles and textures might be an issue, but color alone is not a no). I also agree with those who say a metal color on your face needs to compliment your coloring. I realize I have no idea if I would like silver on my face. I've always thought of myself as blonde and think gold by default, but I'm silver in front and at the same time a darker mix in back.

Thanks fir all the thoughts and feedback. Ill have to shop around a bit more My opthalmologist has a great selection of very expensive frames so Ill play with them when i go for my appointment. Im not spending $100s on frames, though.
