Any experience with Turo?

We are going to Sitka AK for one day on a cruise. I’ve read that there is no Uber/Lyft in Sitka and only one taxi. I can rent a car from Avis for $400 for the day. Or from Turo for $175 for the day. I know zero about Turo.

If you’ve rented from them, what was your experience? Would you do it again?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with The Proposal, here’s a synopsis:

Faced with deportation to her native Canada, high-powered book editor Margaret Tate says she's engaged to marry Andrew Paxton, her hapless assistant. Andrew agrees to the charade, but imposes a few conditions of his own, including flying to Alaska to meet his eccentric family. With a suspicious immigration official always lurking nearby, Margaret and Andrew must stick to their wedding plan despite numerous mishaps.

Margaret is played by Sandra Bullock; Andrew by Ryan Reynolds. Betty White is part of the cast, too.

If you want movies that are thought provoking and show you the underbelly of life, move on. This movie has the depth of peach fuzz…and I enjoyed every second of it!

Yes, we rented thru them ~2 yrs ago once when we were in Charleston and wanted a ... wair for it ... convertible. It was a very nice MB and a good price and the process was smooth. YMMV, haha

DS rented from them once three years ago. He wanted a specific EV to try out for 2 days to see if he really wanted to go electric. He didn't have any issues with the rental process but discovered he wasn't ready for electric.

Marie_cate, my nephew did something similar. He had his eye on a particular SUV. He rented one thru Turo for a couple of days, then bought the same car.

I do not generally do excursions from the ship. The idea of being on a bus with 40 or 50 strangers is anathema to me. We either book private tours just for our family or we DIY the tours.

I was there about 15 years ago, but my recollection was its was like a few blocks along the water and entirely walkable?

@Arapaho-Rd, one of my fav movies!! I had forgotten that it is set in Sitka! I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago because I wanted some happy fluff!
