Depends on the context the art is used for.

Well, it will need to have different colors, definitely more than one.

But more importantly, I don’t think is the color or combination of colors only, but the quality of the art.

I was just curious about which colours people liked; if you were to see a whole bunch of work, all of similar style and good quality, which colours tend to catch your eye? I'm an artist that likes to use saturated colour and it interests me how my repeat buyers react consistently to work that is predominantly a certain colour, even if they don't intend to hang them together. You know, just how sometimes you look at a piece and think, "I love that colour there!" Should've been clearer, I guess. Sorry! :)

There are a lot of colors I love and am drawn to. I am always drawn to certain shades of blue and green in the turquoise family. I love the combination of red, purple and orange as well. I have different colors all over the house so it's a hard question. No color is really "off limits" for me because they can all be beautiful when done right. I have never understood people who say they hate a certain color. For me, the more intense the color is the more I am drawn to it.

Whatever works with the art/composition. I would never pick art solely because of color and I hate art that is "color coordinated" to rooms just because it is color coordinated to the room.

I agree, art shouldn't be picked strictly for the color, but for the composition itself. Great artists used colors that work best with the entire piece, but the piece isn't about the color. There are multiple elements that should be taken into consideration when purchasing art.

As an artist, I am more drawn by the use of color than by the color itself. But I admit to go through a green period right now, where the art I seem most attracted to does have a good amount of green in it.

My home is all neutrals so I purchase pieces that draw the eye to rest there. I'm a mixed media artist with a good group of patrons I keep a piece or two that are my favorites but I like to see other artist's style also. For some reason I'm attracted to red and sepia colored photo's. I just can't help myself.

I buy art for it's subject matter mostly, also, if it is compatible with the room.

This was a tough one for me. As an artist, I have a spot for every color as you can see from my paintings.

I especially like blues and oranges together.

We have exactly ONE piece of art hanging on the wall. It is a copy of a famous painting that my Dad had digitized and then printed on canvas with brush strokes added.

To quote the late great Harry Chapin, "There are so many colours in the rainbow so let's use every one."

I enjoy art that "makes me giggle"... color(s) are secondary.

HI -- I just love Art ... choosing it for a color is not the way to do it !!

I agree with everybody else about "art" - because if it is visually interesting, it can be any color. I am laughing, because I finished the outside of my house, but I have been looking at art BEFORE choosing my paint colors for the rooms - not to be matchy matchy, but art looks better or worse with different wall colors and it is the art that I will end up looking at.
